HAPPY THANKSGIVING CUP KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,
I Praise God that we can come together today!

As we come together to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us reflect on the following...........

Do I have the kind of LOVE that perseveres even though I see no visible results?

How much of my life do I spend engaged in my primary pursuit of glorifying GOD?

WOW!! That will make you think!

Our fathers......cried to YOU, and were delivered, they trusted in YOU, and were not ashamed. Psalm 22: 4-5

It is good for me to draw near to GOD, I have put my trust in the LORD GOD. Psalm 73:28

I pray that if you do not read your Bible daily, that during Thanksgiving you will start to do so, you will be blessed.

Many of you are traveling........We pray for your safety! I hope you get to read the Cup wherever you are at, and also don't forget you can listen to KKIM anywhere in the world at http://www.mykkim.com/

Got a call from Glorettia yesterday asking if KKIM is on 24 hours a day.......and yes it is.........she was so grateful because she wanted to leave her radio on KKIM as she and her husband left town for thanksgiving and wanted the cats to have KKIM on to keep them company! THAT MADE MY DAY!!!!!! We have more COOL CATS listening to us than any other radio station!!!

Make sure and read all the heart warming stories that we have posted today! Please drink the whole cup today........

I want to thank you all for being part of the KKIM family. We give thanks to GOD for all of you! Thank you for your support of the KKIM Radio Ministry!!! You all keep us plugging along and your emails and show of support mean so much!!! We have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day and EVERYDAY!!!

The wonders of the LORD..........We have Thanksgiving Greetings from Malaysia!!!
Dear Dewey,Happy Thanksgiving Day to you and Family.Tan Tian in Malaysia
How AWESOME is that!!!!
Our God has made us one.......In HIM our hearts unite.

When we, HIS children, share HIS love, Our joy is HIS delight!!!

AMEN!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Great to hear from you Tan........we have listeners all over GOD's world!!!

Please keep all the folks at Immanuel Lutheran Church in your prayers as part of their School was damaged by fire early Tuesday morning. Pastor Randy Walquist told us last night on New Mexico News and Views it looks like the cause of the fire is arson. How sad! The part of the school the burned was the original 1932 school. Please keep this in your prayers.

Today on New Mexico News and Views we are going to have the reporter who first reported shots being fired at the JFK caravan. Frank Haley has collected a lot of radio sound from that day and we will look back 45 years ago at that dark day in American history.

Let's check the mailbag for your thoughts on Thanksgiving Day.......

I am only a helper in the kitchen (I can cut some mean vegetables, and I am an expert potato peeler). But, my personal favorite is my wife’s stuffing for the turkey. This year, we are going to a friend’s home for the big meal, so my wife promised our family she would make a Turkey on Christmas Eve so we won’t have to go without her special stuffing.

One other treat on Thanksgiving morning is Spingee’s (my spelling is probably wrong) It is an Italian treat of fried bread dough pieces rolled in sugar. Once again, a treat to savor on special occasions….

God’s blessings to everyone!

Dave Meurer
Hi Dewey - I, too, was up at 4:30 this morning. Sometimes it feels good to sit in the dark and think. I usually think about my family and pray they are all ok. Then I can hear Craig snoring (even tho he says he doesn't snore) and thank God for him. I usually relax after my praying and fall asleep again. We are having Craig's sister, Patti for dinner. Her daughter Jodi and her family are coming too. Instead of the traditional turkey, we are having chicken and noodles (homemade noodles) with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, salads, a vegetable and of course, pumpkin pie. Lots of starch!!! Wish you were here to help us celebrate!!Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!Anita
Dearest Dewey, and family.
I pray your Thanksgiving is trully the best one ever.
Unfortunately, I don't have a favorite recipe to send you. You see I love them all!!
Thanksgiving is suppose to be a day of greetings and hugs, family and food. And most of all the thankfulness we share for all that the Lord has done for us.
And this year all of the family of the 'Cup' and you Dewey and Sharon, will be part of my Thanksgiving, I am so very thankful to have you in my life,
Sincerely, Sam of ca.

Dewey, I'm thankful for my husband. 22 years ago when we got married I told him I would never stick my hand in a turkey cavity. Soooo, for the last 22 years he has prepared our holiday turkeys while leaving the less "creepy" things, like stuffing and rolls, to me. Dumplings are a big tradition from his side of the family and Warren has prepared them faithfully as well. Now, it's such a blessing to watch my 19 year-old son stand next to his dad and prepare dumplings with a mix of enjoyment and pride. Although my son, like me, isn't a big fan of creepy turkey things, I love the "like father, like son" part of the dumplings.Blessings, shona
Hi Dewey!A week or so ago, you played an audio book for several days running chronicling the struggles and victories of the pilgrims as they crossed the sea and then began settling the new world. I would like to buy that audio book but I can't recall the title or the author's name: could you help me out? Thanks!!Ray
Hi ray, That was a wonderful series aired on Family Life Today! It was AWESOME, go to http://www.mykkim.com/ and go to the program guide and you can find Family Life Today info by clicking and going to their web site! Thanks for writing!

And now we have some very cool things to share with you this Thanksgiving.........

First of all this news item appeared in the Goshen Indiana Newspaper about Kyle Martin who you hear Sundays at 8:30am on KKIM and myself........

By Monica JosephTHE GOSHEN NEWS
Middlebury native Kyle Martin said he believes God “opened amazing doors” out of the “trials and tribulations” of his week-long revival in Sante Fe, N.M. — including one door that offered him his own radio program on Sunday mornings.Dewey Moede, the former marketing manager for Elkhart’s WFRN , is now station manager at KKIM AM and FM Christian radio in Albuquerque and Sante Fe. He interviewed Martin twice on the air promoting the revival. After the media began reporting on a quote on Martin’s Revive Sante Fe Web site regarding homosexuality, Moede called and offered Martin air time to do a press conference on the media reports. A group of Santa Fe pastors joined with Martin “to take a stance with me that this message is of Jesus Christ and of love,” Martin said.Moede said of the press conference: “It was cool. I had never seen anything like this. Ten different churches were represented. It was a good discussion. It helped the media understand what it (the revival) was all about.”On Martin’s last day in Santa Fe, Moede called and asked if he would be willing to have his own radio spot, Reviving the Church, on Sunday mornings. The station reaches the whole state and localsouthern Colorado, Moede said, and is available via Web stream across the world. People in this area can listen to Kyle through a Web stream at mykkim.com at 10:30 a.m. (Eastern time) Sundays, Moede said. The first seven Sundays of the radio show were devoted to playing recorded messages from the revival. After that, Martin will record his messages in Dallas and send them to Moede to play each week. “When you step out on faith, you have no idea how God is going to bless you,” Martin said.Moede said it was Martin’s “passion for the Lord, word of God,” that prompted his offer of a radio spot. “Christian radio is in need young people like Kyle to replace God’s people who are passing on,” Moede said.
AMEN!!! We are thankful for that story and my prayer it will lead more folks to the KKIM family of God.
Our buddy Nik sent this in......it is AWESOME!!!

Good morning...

As we turn the corner towards "Thanksgiving" I believe this message will be a blessing to most of us. Because I have Christ, I have life and am so thankful that each of you are a part of it.

A Moment of ThanksDr. David Jeremiah

Life is hard, and every day is challenging. You may be wondering just now if you can go on. Perhaps another person is vexing you. Perhaps you've been maligned or criticized. You're discouraged with unanswered prayer. Maybe you're feeling like Elijah under the broom tree, wanting to die.
Try praying with thanksgiving. A thankful attitude is the cure for many emotional ailments. Take depression, for example. What is depression or discouragement except the total collapse of thanksgiving in our lives?
Thanksgiving is also the opposite of discontent. It's easy for us to become disgruntled with various factors in our lives; but let's be like one man who was thankful...

* For the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.* For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means that I have freedom of speech.* For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am alive.* For the teenager who is not doing dishes but is watching TV because that means he is at home and not on the streets.* For the taxes that I pay because it means that I'm employed.* For the lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.* For weariness at the end of the day because it means I have been capable of working hard.* For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation.

Thanksgiving is the opposite of anxiety. Philippians 4:6: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Worship and worry cannot live in the same heart. They are mutually exclusive, according to Ruth Graham.
Thanksgiving is also the corrective for sadness and even grief. While working on a message from Psalm 100, my phone rang. It was from a family dear to me. Our children were about the same age and had played together growing up.

The caller told me there had been an accident in the woods, and a portion of a tree had fallen on one of the boys. He'd been pinned for over an hour before the ambulance arrived, and it appeared the young man would be paralyzed from the waist down. His spinal cord had been crushed.

Well, that just destroyed my afternoon. I couldn't get it out of my mind. This was a blond-headed kid, very athletic, full of life; and in one moment, his life was shattered and changed. I wrestled with my own thoughts and emotions until evening, then I placed a call to the intensive care unit of the hospital. Frankly, I didn't know what to say; but I didn't have to say much at all. The boy's father ended up comforting me.

He said, "Pastor, I want you to know that my wife and I are, first of all, thankful that our son is alive. Second, we're thanking God that it wasn't the upper part of his body that was paralyzed. And thirdly, though we don't understand why, we know God is good and that somehow in the midst of this, He has a plan for our son's life that must go beyond anything we can imagine. Though it's hard and we wish it hadn't happened, we have committed it to our God, for He is good."

Is the race of life wearing you down?
Try a moment of thanks.
What a Christmas Story sent in by Tory Blomberg........How WONDERFUL!!!
Puppy SizeThis is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will knowprecisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'llwant to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back toThis animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now sincewe started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.'Puppy size!' replied the mother.'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.''I know... we have seen most of them, ' the mom said in frustration...Just then Danielle came walking into the office'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom. 'No, not this time,'Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on theweekend?'The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed'You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there'salways a supply,' the volunteer said.Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don'tworry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend orwe're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration.'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,' Mom added.Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturdaymorning. By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for thesection that housed the smaller dogs.Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end ofthe first row of cages. There was an observation window so you couldsee the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically totake a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and she heldeach one.One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not the one.'It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked upthe dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!'She screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!''But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over thelast few weeks,' Mom said.'No not size... The sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said.'Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't knowwhether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she dida little of both.'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come homefrom work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find theright puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said. Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom, he lovesme. I heard the sighs of his heart!'Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes yousigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in thecaress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush ofcool air on a hot day. They are the sighs of God Take the time to stop and listen; you willbe surprised at what you hear. 'Life is not measured by the breaths wetake, but by the moments that take our breath away.'I hope your life is filled with Sighs!!!

MAILBAG...........
from TAN IN MAYLAYSIA......

Hi Dewey,Take a look from the internet weather report ofAlbuquerque and my city (Kuala Lumpur) at the time Iam writing this email. Its wonderful the world isgetting smaller, information can be obtained by just amouse click. The weather here is about the same all the year round, unlike your city is getting cooler now.All the best and you have a good day.Regards,Tan

Tan also sent this heart warming story to us............

Dear Dewey,Thanks for the message about the Saudi's show theirmoney, I will like to share with you a story about aboy and puppies.PuppiesA farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. Hepainted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set aboutnailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As hewas driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tugon his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of alittle boy. "Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of yourpuppies." "Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat of theback off his neck, "These puppies come from fineparents and cost a good deal of money." The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reachingdeep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful ofchange and held it up to the farmer. "I've gotthirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?" "Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out awhistle. Here, Dolly!" he called. Out from thedoghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly; followed by fourlittle balls of fur. The little boy pressed his faceagainst the chain link fence. His eyes danced withdelight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, thelittle boy noticed something else stirring inside thedoghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, thisone noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then ina somewhat awkward manner, the little pup beganhobbling toward the others, doing its best to catchup.... "I want that one," the little boy said, pointing tothe runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said,"Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be ableto run and play with you like these other dogs would. "With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of histrousers. In doing so he revealed a steel bracerunning down both sides of his leg attaching itself toa specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer,he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands. "With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down andpicked up the little pup. Holding it carefully hehanded it to the little boy. "How much?" asked the little boy. "No charge," answered the farmer. "There's no chargefor love." Love,Tan Tian

NEW WEEK JUMP STARTER CUP KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

How are you today????

Happy Thanksgiving!!! God Bless you all!!!

Sharon found this yesterday......think about it, "Seeing is not believing, believing is seeing"

We started preparations for Thanksgiving yesterday........Sharon began cooking, I put out some Christmas decorations and last night we watched the movie, "Polar Express" a wonderful movie! We have to start early because of work schedules. We still don't know how many are coming for dinner!

One thing I ask for when I am going to speak at a Church is the song book.........I can't hold a note for the life of me.....but I love reading the song book and absorbing the words into my heart and soul..........like this one from the Immanuel Baptist Church in Milan.............

To Worship, work and witness, The Good News spread a-broad, We magnify Thy mission, Church of the Living God........

Thoughts for the day from Oswald Chambers.........

Do I place more confidence in science than on Scripture?

More trust in human legislation than in divine justice?

More faith in good government than in a loving God?

WOW!!! That ties right in with what the Lord has been having me say.........Do not put your faith in Man and a political party....put it in Jesus Christ.............put it in Jesus who came to serve not to be served..who came to wash the feet of others.........Not a Political party.

Look at the mess we are in and how divided this country is by putting faith in Politicians and Political action committees!!!

Seek the Lord's Will and not a Political Parties will!!! Have the heart of Jesus.

In the face of problems as they are, we see in Jesus Christ an exhibition of where our FAITH is to be placed.........in a GOD whose ways we always do not understand.

When we seek the Lord's Will in continued prayer we will get our answer. Give ourselves over to the Lord.

The one who lives by faith trusts that good things can happen because God wants good things to happen. Lewis Smedes

As Psalm 28:7 reads..........

The LORD is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted HIM, and I am helped.

This came to me when I was walking the dogs yesterday and praying..........
When we preach to God's people we must be sure to preach God's word and not our own word's....we must pray before preaching or speaking for God.........to make sure the words are of our God are not our own.........we must leave our ego out of it....ego stands for EDGING GOD OUT.

We have been praying for Dr. Deb Gunderman's Dad, Marlin...........here is an update......

My dad is now living with my sister in Indianapolis. He can no longer live alone so we are hoping that this will work out well. Thanks for all your prayers, Deb

Please keep this in your prayers.

Please keep Charlie Hickman in your prayers. The have found a mass in one of his lungs. Charlie's wife Lavalle called to say they are much thankful for your prayers.

I got a phone call from brother Daryl Sunday he is doing better. Thank you for your prayers. I am praying about going out to Wisconsin to see Daryl in early December.

Clyde sent this to us..........A GOOD funny bone and the truth all in one!!!!

Here is a great note from Pastor Manny.........a dear, dear friend of KKIM.......I PRAISE GOD FOR ALL THE PASTOR FRIENDS WE HAVE AT KKIM!!! Tom Lewis of Cross International was so impressed with how non-denominational KKIM is!!! He said it is such a blessing to be able to have a Radio Ministry that is Non-Denominational and serving all of God's people. I GIVE ALL GLORY TO GOD!!!

Here is one of our AWESOME friends, Pastor Manny of the Secretary State's Office........

Dewey,
Thank you for allowing me to pray with your listeners yesterday. It was an honor and a pleasure! I shared with the Secretary and she wants you to know that she is deeply appreciates the support you have given her. Thank you for being a good friend and dear brother in the Lord.
You are also in my prayers and if I can be of any assistance, please don¢t hesitate to give me a call.
By the way, the General Election went smoothly and without any glitches. I have advised the Secretary to build a strong media campaign that educates the public about the many improvements we have implemented. Being that you are a media professional, any ideas and/or suggestions you might have on how we can further our outreach to the general public and Christian community are welcomed and appreciated.
If I do not get the opportunity to speak to you soon, I ask that the Lord grant you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving Day Celebration. For us as the Body of Christ, it should be in observance for all that our Heavenly Father has done for us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Divine Holy Spirit.
I feel there are many issues challenging us as a nation. I strongly feel that we need to somehow bring an awareness to the Body of Christ and the Leadership for raising up a holy banner. The Bible refers to the banner as JEHOVAH-NISSI: "The Lord Our Banner." Ex. 17:15. God on the battlefield, from word which means "to glisten," "to lift up," See Psalm 4:6.
If we are going to turn things around for the positive for our country, as a body, we need to make a stand for righteousness and beacon our message in a unified manner. Please pray with me that the Lord will quicken the hearts and minds of our church leaders and the people. It is very sad that for the General Election, there was very little unity and a lack of leadership effort nationally for making a stand.
Sincerely your Brother in Christ,

A note from snowy Ohio............

Hi Dewey… We have had our first snow here this week and its very, very cold. I am trying to slow down life and to stay focused with going back to work. I though life was busy before…what was I thinking? Life is good…in the perspective that God is in control and trying to keep in mind constantly what really matters. I wish you and Sharon a wonderful noisy Thanksgiving holiday filled with laughter and memories with all of your children and friends!!! Love you friend!!! Mindi
Great to hear from you Mindi! We have missed our Ohio connection!

Here are some Great MEMORIES!!!!

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (Nov. 22) - Betty James, who co-founded the company that made the Slinky and beat the odds as a single mother in the late 1950s to become a successful executive, has died. She was 90.
She died Thursday, said a spokeswoman for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

J.D. Cavrich, The Altoona Mirror / AP
For many years, Betty James ran James Industries Inc., the company that made the enormously popular Slinky toy. A member of the Toy Industry Hall of Fame, James died Thursday at age 90.
How about that!!!! remember the SLINKY??? It was so wonderful!!! It brings back such wonderful memories!!! It got Sharon thinking about other toys.if they are in the Hall-Of-Fame.......
Honey,
I wanted to know about: Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, Chatty Cathy, Betsy Wetsy, Mr. Potato Head, Cabbage Patch Kids, Barbie, Silly Putty, Legos.

Love you,
Sharon

Which ones were your favorites? Here is a note from Nik............
Good morning friends of God -

We're entering into the time period where the suicide rate begins to rise and with the economic situation as it is things will become more desperate. Search out those that need some extra comfort this and next month. Invite them for a meal and some fellowship. Let's make this season one of true thanks and the real meaning of Christmas.

Think about this for a minute...If I happened to show up on your door step crying,
Would you Care?If I called you and asked you to pick me up because something Happened,Would you come?If I had one day left, to live my life;Would you be part of That last day?If I needed a shoulder to cry on,Would you give me Yours?Do you know what the relationship is between your two eyes? They blink together, they move together, they cry together,They see things together and they sleep together,BUT THEY NEVER SEE EACH OTHER...that's what friendship is.Life is lonely without FRIENDS.It's 'world best friends week'. Send this to all Your good friends.Even me, if I am one of them.See how many you get back.If you get more than 3 then you really are a lovable person...

God Bless you all,

Dewey Sharon and family!

WEEKEND CUP OF JOE!!! KKIM/DDC

Hello KKIM Family!

First of all with the Radio-A-Thon we have been having for Orphans in Mozambique I am sorry if I have not returned your call or email.........right now I have 958 emails. I hope to start working on that today! Thanks for your patience.

"God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."

Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1st Peter 5:5-7

St. Augustine prayed, "O Lord, deliver me from this lust of always vindicating myself." That temper of mind destroys the soul's faith in God. "I must explain myself, I must get people to understand." Our Lord never explained anything; He left mistakes to correct themselves.
From Oswald Chambers book, "Faith A Holy Walk"

We have ANOTHER HUGE PRAISE NOTE: We have been praying for Pastor Vic Tafoya of True Life Fellowship and we all have been awaiting the test results.........

Hey Dewey I got your message, my phone has been turned off and charging since yesterday. Had an appointment yesterday to have stitches removed and me and Barb were told that the tumor was benign. Thank you and everyone else for all there prayers. I also will get you the CD by the end of this week or by Monday. In his glorious name, Talk to you later. Victor

PRAISE GOD!!!

Thanks to all of you who have given to the KKIM/Cross International effort to rescue Orphans in Mozambique!!! We are nearly 40% up over two years ago, just short of saving 300!!! If you have not helped in this effort, would you please right now pray about your role to help the poorest of the poor? Please go to www.mykkim.com or www.crossinternational.org Thank you for being in prayer about this effort! Special thanks to all who have given and to all the Pastor's and leaders of our State who where on the air with us praying and encouraging the KKIM family. We had 30 plus folks on the air with us praying!!!

I have been so blessed working with Tom and Robert Lewis of cross International. This effort has really ministered to me. I have put my name in the hopper to go with Tom next time he goes to Mozambique. Sharon and I are seeking the Lord's will in this....will you prayer with us?
I got this email and wanted to pass it along. It was the day that we posted a letter from Dr. Joe Fawcett about the passing of his Uncle Joe. Many of you thought it was my Uncle Joe who I write about a lot. Thank you for your love and concern. However, this letter is worth posting that is for sure...........
Dewey,

This is Monika at Ligonier Ministries in Florida. I am sad to say that we don’t talk all that much, but Dewey, I read your cups every day….every day.

The heartfelt sharing of your Uncle Joe’s passing has tears flowing down my face as I write this and I am running a front desk switchboard at the moment filling in for our receptionist who is on vacation.

To you, dear Dewey and to your entire family, please accept my sincere condolences for the passing of your Uncle Joe. He sounds like a person I would have wanted to know…or anyone would have wanted to know. You were blessed to have him in your life…and so was your Aunt Hoppy. Your last lines hold strong to me:

“The death of a loved one draws us closer and closer to the reality of an Eternity that's always a breath away. It's also a constant reminder that you and I need to love more deeply and live more purposely... and that life... goes on...”

My Mom is 76 years old and has mid-level dementia and Alzheimer’s. Her health is poor…she has COPD and emphysema from smoking all her life, is on oxygen and uses a CPAP machine at night to help her breathe. She struggled with alcoholism most of her life but has not taken a drink in the past few years. She lives far from me in another state, NY, with her older sister who is 80. I know the time left on this earth for my mom and even her sister (although at 80, her older sister is in better health than my mom) is short. I lost my dad in 1975 when he was only 55 due to diabetes and atherosclerosis so the next member of my family who will likely pass is my mom. I struggle with this, Dewey and try to prepare myself mentally for the time when the call comes from one of my sisters with the news. The sharing of your story helps me to understand that this is not something I will go through alone; not only will I have my family but HE will be here when that time comes, as HE is always here.

Your final words will stay with me Dewey and I will remember them and carry them with me for when I get the call about my mom. I also know that it is we who suffer on this earth after our loved ones pass for they are with our sweet Lord Jesus and what better place is there to be?

Thanks for your heart, Dewey. You are a blessed man more than you realize.

Monika

I Don't know if this is a true a true story or not.......but it get's the point across...thanks to our dear friend Merry........it's a good one

COURT SETS ATHEISTS HOLIDAYIn Florida, an atheist became incensed over the preparation of Easter and Passover holidays. He decided to contact his lawyer about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews, with all their holidays, while atheists had no holiday to celebrate. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the long passionate presentation by the lawyer, the Judge banged his gavel and declared, 'Case dismissed!'The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, 'Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other obse rv ances. Jews havePassover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah...yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!'The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said, 'Obviously your client is too confused to even know about, much less celebrate his own atheists' holiday!'The lawyer pompously said, 'Your Honor, we are unaware of any such holiday for atheists. Just when might that holiday be, your Honor?'The judge said, 'Well it comes every year on exactly the same date---April 1st! Since our calendar sets April 1st as 'April Fools Day,' consider that Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, in my opinion, if your client says there is no God, then by scripture , he is a fool, and April 1st is his holiday!

Now have a good day and get out of my courtroom!!

What Keeps Us Close To God? From Karen Rowe

Prayer…Constant communion with God keeps us close to God in Spirit, body and soul.
Seeking God for help, coming to God in Praise and Thanksgiving…
Giving our whole heart to God keeps us close to God.

Prayer time is quality time spent with God to get to know HIM.
Time reading the Bible, when we read for understanding God’s will for us, as we seek to know God… keeps us close to God.

Prayer is entering into God’s Holy presence in the name of Jesus! Prayer is talking to God! How much closer can we get?

That depends on how much of our heart is seeking God.
That depends on how willing we are to accept God’s will in our lives.

The more we get to know God, the more we love HIM.
It is then that we can know the love that God has for us…and we can draw closer to God.

A need brings us to our knees.
A need brings us to prayer.

When we were in Colorado , I felt so close to God all of the time, because we depended on God in every turn we made. We needed God more than ever, so we leaned on God completely. It was awesome how God took care of us…Miracle after miracle, God provided.

When we moved back to our house in North Carolina , it was a period of adjustment, which surprised me. God was still providing and we were still depending on God, but something was different. I didn’t sense that same constant closeness to God as I did in Colorado .

The difference was that I was busier here and consumed with missing Colorado; I quit taking as much quality time with God. I still thanked God daily, but I quit thanking HIM for all great things, without complaining on the side.
The sense of urgency of depending on God for all things had lessened, because it was more comfortable and familiar, so the need was not as great. I took back a portion of my life to control, because I could…Those are the times that I didn’t sense God near.

God hadn’t gone anywhere…I just wandered out of that closeness to God as I was consumed with clutter in my life and consumed with missing something else. I appreciated the beauty that God had put before me in NC...the problem was that I was consumed with missing something else, which took away from the whole appreciation of where I was.

We need God everyday! There is no mistake in that…It is more a matter of how much we understand that.

I love this realization quote from a friend to a Pastor, “I guess I’ll just have to trust God.”
The Pastor replied, “Do you think it has really come to that?”

The thing that confused me was that I continued to thank God and praise HIM and still sensed HIS presence…but it was just more fleeting and weaker. I didn’t feel like I was walking in the mist of a miracle…

Maybe that was the difference…My miracle had happened and it was time to rest. A new and different season in my life…
What ever the difference, I see this morning that in order to do great things, we need to depend on God and spend time in prayer…not asking for things…Instead, time praising God and seeking HIS will of how we can serve HIM and serve others.

In God’s grace, good things happen and bad things are dealt with.
In God’s grace we can find peace…Always.

Let us draw nearer to God…God bless us all...God is that BIG!

In Christ’s name,
Karen Rowe

Dear Friends,
I have been meaning to get back to you with a fuller report on the Hollywood Prayer Initiative, thanks for your patience. I had to leave after two days and so heard the report of the initiative sometime later. Those who took part inside the entertainment industry as well as the prayer leaders and intercessors who made up the on-site team were truly ecstatic about the impact of it all. They shared comments like “through the roof”, “everything we wanted and then some” and “bigger and better than we thought”. Praise God for the way He answered all of us who participated, you from afar and those who were on the spot. Here are some specific impacts that were noticed:
The atmosphere of the American Film Market, normally dark and oppressive, was light and free, noticed by believers who have been there for 15 or 20 years.
A number of participants were led to the Lord as believers mingled and shared Christ with them.
International buyers showed enthusiastic interest in the films being produced by the Christian-run companies, and some millionaires expressed their desire to fund faith-based movies now in the pipeline for production.
There was a greater sense of cooperation and unity among the Christian film organizations who have often been competitive and divided in the past.
A good foundation was laid through this initiative. Please continue to pray for His guidance, encouragement and protection over the organizing team and the Christian-led film companies that they will be able to steward this breakthrough effectively, building on it for future initiatives of this kind.
Another encouraging report comes from my colleague, Brian Mills, about his son Andrew whom so many of you have prayed for over the last few weeks. Brian writes “We are glad to be able to say that Andrew has now moved from survival mode into recovery mode, even though he is still in Intensive Care.” He is talking, breathing on his own for longer periods, his infection has cleared, and he is spiritually alive and alert. Please pray for the Mills family as they intensively help Andrew remember things, for his continued recuperation, and for the healing of his spinal cord since there is still no feeling from the mid-back to his feet.
Next week, two important prayer initiatives will take place. The European Prayer Forum will gather prayer leaders from throughout that continent to Bucharest, Romania, November 24-28. The organizer has asked prayer support as follows: 1. Unity and protection for the participants and their families before and during the Forum because of “hard spiritual battle around this Forum”. 2. For dissipation of spiritual darkness and revival in Europe. 3. For active participation of younger prayer leaders and that it will be a time of breakthrough with a visitation of the Spirit and glory of God.
The International Prayer Council Executive Team will meet in the Los Angeles area, November 29-December 3, for an important time of prayer and planning together. We want to be in touch with the Lord and one another so as not to miss new directions He is leading us in. Please pray for His unity, protection, clarity and strong anointing on this time of deliberation.
Thanks so much for your undergirding prayers of faith for these matters. They are deeply felt and appreciated by all concerned.
Warmly in Christ,
John Robb
IPC Chairman

Let us here from our dear friend...yes all our friends are dear, Dr. Joe Fawcett..............

Louann wanted me to share these funny children's stories with you.
But before you read them, I'd like to share a far more serious story with you. I'll keep it short as possible. It's about my Uncle Joe Joiner. He's my mother's oldest brother of five siblings. Uncle Joe and my dad were best friends at Austin College (they played varsity football together), in the Army, and up until the sudden death of my dad from spinal meningitis at the age of 36 - I was 15. Uncle Joe and dad were like brothers. Uncle Joe became close to me like my second dad for several years after my dad's death.
A long time ago, Uncle Joe married my mother's best friend Harriet (Aunt Hoppy) Hopkins - they'd been best of friends since first grade in Sherman. My mother's big brother married her best friend.
I grew up with the Joiner kids. They were like brother and sisters to me. We had wonderful, magical fun times growing up together in the mid 50's and 60's and 70's. Nowadays, when we get together - often - we still have wonderful fun times. I've been super blessed with such a wonderful family of origin that is also my family of choice.
Uncle Joe became an attorney and eventually a Federal District Judge.
Tragically, in 1986 he was stricken with what the doctors determined to be "Lou Gehrig's Disease". This was two years after my mother had died from a three year battle with brain cancer.
Uncle Joe was given three months to live. His health decline was shockingly dramatic for this robust man with movie star looks. Everyone thought the doctor's were right but hoped they were terribly wrong.
The years passed.
Aunt Hoppy faithfully tended to her sweetheart around the clock. She exhibited true Christ-centered love, hope, faith, mercy, and courage. A monument of a uniquely dedicated woman to her husband, children, grandchildren, and everyone who has had the extreme pleasure of knowing this incredibly gracious and intelligent woman.
I was told this afternoon that last night Uncle Joe leaped into Eternity at 10:05.
All his precious children and grandchildren had crowded into the room where his shell of a body had laid in a bed for the last 22 years. They profoundly experienced his passing from this world into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. Their precious dad... grandad... and my uncle will soon experience the resurrected body.
It was a marvelous sight, I'm told, when they all held hands and sang hymns and prayed around him. And just before his heart stopped, he suddenly opened his eyes wide, looked around at everyone, closed his eyes, and exhaled his last breath.
Over the years we all knew Uncle Joe was to leave us at any moment. But when it happens, it's always upsetting.
The memorial is this Thursday in Sherman. In the same chapel where my dad's service was.
I didn't know how his passing would effect me until now as I write this. It has opened up some rather deep "old" wounds that I don't like to experience. But I've found writing is an emotional release that is healthy.
After the service, the immediate family will gather at the home in Sherman where Uncle Joe lived the last 30 plus years. It's the same house Aunt Hoppy grew up in as a child all the way through High School and College. Isn't that amazing!
Louann, Jonathan and I will be there. We will hear and tell funny and tender stories about Uncle Joe... probably late into the night.
The death of a loved one draws us closer and closer to the reality of an Eternity that's always a breath away. It's also a constant reminder that you and I need to love more deeply and live more purposely... and that life... goes on...

The wonderful world of Kids
While I sat in the reception area of my doctor's office, a woman rolled an elderly man in a wheelchair into the room. As she went to the receptionist's desk, the man sat there, alone & silent. Just as I was thinking I should make small talk with him, a little boy slipped off his mother's lap & walked over to the wheelchair. Placing his hand on the man's, he said, 'I know how you feel. My mom makes me ride in the stroller, too.'

* * *
As I was nursing my baby, my cousin's 6-yr-old daughter, Krissy, came into the room. Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued & full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing. After mulling over my answers, she remarked, 'My mom has some of those, but I don't think she knows how to use them.

Out bicycling one day with my 8-yr-old granddaughter, Carolyn, I got a little wistful. 'In 10 years,' I said, 'you'll want to be with your friends & you won't go walking, biking, & swimming with me like you do now.Carolyn shrugged. 'In 10 years you'll be too old to do all those thingsanyway.'

* * *
On a brutally humid day, I walked past a miniature golf course & saw a dad following 3 small children from hole to hole. 'Who's winning?' I shouted. 'I am,' said one kid.'Me,' said another.
'No, me,' yelled the 3rd. Sweat dripping down his face, the dad gasped, 'Their mother is.'

* * *
On the way back from a Cub Scout meeting, my grandson asked my son THE question. 'Dad, I know that babies come from mommies' tummies, but how do they get there in the first place?' he asked innocently. After my son hemmed & hawed awhile, my grandson finally spoke up in disgust. 'You don't have to make somethingup, Dad. It's OK if you don't know the answer.

* * *
Just before I was deployed to Iraq , I sat my 8-yr-old son down & broke the news to him. 'I'm going to be away for a long time,' I told him. 'I'm going to Iraq .' 'Why?' he asked. 'Don't you know there's a war going on over there?'

* * *
Paul Newman founded the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children stricken with cancer, AIDS & blood diseases. One afternoon he & his wife, Joanne Woodward, stopped by to have lunch with the kids. A counselor at a nearby table, suspecting the young patients wouldn't know that Newman was a famous movie star, explained, 'That's the man who made this camp possible. Maybe you'veseen his picture on his salad dressing bottle?' .... Blank stares.
'Well, you've probably seen his face on his lemonade carton.'
An 8-yr-old girl perked up. 'How long was he missing?'From our dear friend David Standridge of Warrior Life.........

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM

This November has been a very interesting and exciting month. As I write, we have already gone through the elections and celebrated Veteran's Day. In a few weeks we will celebrate Thanksgiving. All of these events have caused me to think and ponder on freedom.

Freedom is an awesome responsibility. We can attend church, speak our mind, write our thoughts, work wherever we desire and cast our vote for whoever we want because of freedom. Thanks to our military men and women we enjoy the fruits of their labor. They have sacrificed, bled and died for our freedom. Freedom is sometimes difficult to define, but we certainly know that we want it. Throughout the years, families, individuals and groups have sacrificed their lives, limbs, comfort and own personal desires for the sake of freedom. The idea of freedom is so powerful that it caused our founding fathers to pledge their "lives, fortunes and sacred honor" to declare impendence from what was then the most powerful nation in the world. The idea of freedom is so powerful that it caused slaves to run away from their "masters" and travel through land and territories completely foreign to them. The idea of freedom moved the slaves to blindly place their trust in strangers along the underground railroad in order to pursue freedom. Then again in World War II, the idea of freedom propelled the "greatest generation" to toil, sacrifice and be vigilant against the oppressive Nazi regime. The idea of freedom caused young men to advance on the beachhead at Normandy. Many other examples exist where people undertook difficult odds and circumstances just to experience freedom.

The idea of freedom is so much a part of our culture that many of you would fight to the death to preserve it. The idea of freedom still rings true as much today as it did at the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Many of you would challenge me with a gun or fist if I told you that I or any other person or entity would take your freedom from you tomorrow. Many of you would rather exclaim that it is better to be dead than to live as a slave without freedom. Yet, unfortunately, many men are in fact choosing to live as slaves instead of the free men that they are.

Galations 5:1 declares that "It was for freedom that Christ set us free." You see the idea of freedom is not an American invention. It is not an invention of the Democrats or Republicans. It is an idea born from God. Christ died to make all men free. Free from the chains of slavery to sin and the effects of sin. While it is great that we can live in a "free" Nation like the United States, many men still choose to live like slaves in their everyday lives. While it is wonderful to exercise the rights we have because of freedom, many men still choose to live well below their potential. If we tried to take your civil freedoms you would yell and fight, however, our enemy everyday is trying to take your real freedom in Christ. Unfortunately, many men choose not to fight for their freedom. The freedom from poverty, freedom from sickness, freedom from divorce, freedom from pornography, freedom from fear and anger, freedom from lust, freedom from a poor self image. You see, Christ made us free from sin and all of its repercussions. Are you living as a free man?

Ask yourself a question. Are you willing to fight for your civil freedom? If so, are you willing to fight for your spiritual freedom? Recognize that freedom is not free. Our men and women died for our civil freedom. Our Lord Jesus died for our life freedom. So many men go through life thinking "if only I could conquer this or that in my life." Realize that you don't have to live like a slave any longer. You were bought with a price. You were granted freedom. It is now up to you to choose whether you want to continue as a slave or live with the freedom that is given to you.

I love the line in "Braveheart" where William Wallace (Mel Gibson) says, "All men die but not all men live." Are you living in freedom today? I challenge you to question yourself and take an inventory. If you feel so strongly about freedom in our nation, why not more so when it comes to your everyday life. It was for freedom that you were set free. Decide to live like a free man. Decide to live like a champion. Decide to live like a warrior. Reclaim your Warrior Spirit.

Next month I want to talk to you about fighting for your freedom!

Dave

God Bless you all and May the Peace of the Lord be with You and Yours! Dewey Sharon and family

MONDAY WAKE UP CUP!!!! KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Yesterday Sharon and I had a wonderful time at Immanuel Baptist Church in Milan, NM. That is the Church Garland Moore Pastor's. Garland is on KKIM Sundays at 9:45 and 5:05 and Mondays at 3:34. I delivered the message at the Church. It is based on James 5.

The night before delivering the sermon I was on the phone with my Uncle Joe and reading scripture to him. he wanted more and more..........we were reading from the Psalms. Then the Lord told me to move to James 5. Joe had me read that to him twice. James 5 tied my sermon right together! It was if when I was reading James 5, James was right beside me writing it, because it is so much like what we are going through right now as a Country. Please read it.

What was even more cool, was that the reading before my sermon tied everything together........

I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

I talked about not counting on a Political party, not putting faith in a political party, but putting faith in Jesus Christ. If we want real change in this country we will introduce many to HIM, we will do it in peace and love to change hearts through HIM.

Please pray for my brother Darly Moede who lives in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He is in the hospital. Thank you.

Sharon and I were so blessed by meeting so many new friends yesterday. We have been asked to pray for Dudley Marshall. Please pray that Dudley will return to the Lord.

KKIM's Program Director Bobby Jones mother, Helen who lives in the area stopped by for the service yesterday! It was great to see Helen who is so involved in Prison Ministry and also helps feed the hungry in the area.

After the service Sharon and I went out to dinner with Garland and his wonderful family.

I love small town America and the small Church!

For those of you who read this out of state, and for those of you in New Mexico, you might not be aware, like me and Sharon, that the Coal Mine and Paper Mill 20 miles plus from Grants/Milan area are going great guns! The Paper Mill pipes water from nearby Milan from the old carrot farm that was in the area back in the 40's. So much great history in the area. A company got a permit last week to start mining again for uranium in the Grants/Milan area.

From Oswald Chambers book, "Faith A Holy Walk"..............

To the world, faith is often nothing more than a warm, fuzzy notion. Such faith emits a vague, religious aroma but is impossible to define.
To the Christian, however, faith ought always to mean one thing: faith is believing what God says and obeying HIM.
Oswald Chambers makes some painful but necessary observations about our faith.
"Many of us have no faith in God at all." he says, "but only faith in what HE has done for us. Beware of building your faith on experience. You can never give another person that which you have found, but you can make him long for what you have."
Typically, it is the very thing we do not want that provides us with the opportunity to entice others with our faith. For it is in the trials and demands of life-------not in ease and comfort-----that our faith in Christ is tested, purified, strengthened. This is the faith that will point a searching world to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Chambers reminds us that faith is in the ability to see as a little child sees. Simply put, we must see God in everything. As we do, we find that the distractions and distresses of earth will fade in exchange for a grateful consciousness of God's providential hand.
Instead of becoming overwhelmed by our circumstances, we begin to put into practice Philippians 4:8 Whatever is true, noble, right, lovely, admirable-----"if anything is excellent or praiseworthy----think about such things."
Soon we are fixing our minds on trust, not panic; love, not hate; purity, not perversion; truth, not lies.
"Faith that is sure of itself is not faith," Chambers concludes. "Faith that is sure of GOD is the only faith there is."

The temper of mind is tremendous in its effects; it is the enemy that penetrates right into the soul and distracts the mind from God. There are certain tempers of mind in which we never dare indulge; if we do, we find they have distracted us from faith in God, and until we get back to the quiet mood before God, our faith in Him is nil, and our confidence in the flesh and human ingenuity is the thing that rules. From Muhh

Please remember to read James 5.

Have a great day in the Lord and remember what Mother Teresa's Mom told her when she left home in 1928 as she became a missionary, "Put your hand in HIS hand, and walk alone with HIM."

Thank you for your Prayers and Love, Dewey Sharon and Family

KKIM/DDC WEEKEND BONUS WORDS

Dear KKIM Family,

I just had to share this with you............

The Holy Spirit is moving in me to share these words with you...........

Faith is believing what God says...........

In all we are seeing in our world today..........

Do we have enough confidence in God's character to believe what HE says even when it seems to contradict what we see?

A STRONG WEEKEND CUP KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Nearly 500 new visitors to the web site in October!!! Praise God!!!

If you have ever wanted to give something to the Daily Cup...........may I suggest you please give to the effort we have going on to support the poorest of the poor, Orphans. Please go to http://www.mykkim.com/ and prayfully consider helping in this HUGE effort. No matter where you read this you can help with this effort.

Before we start...................a word from Oswald Chambers..........

We have to get out of the old pagan way of guiding ourselves by our head and get into the Christian way of being guided by faith in a personal God, whose methods are a perpetual contradiction to our every preconceived notion.

The LORD is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted in HIM, and I am helped. Psalm 28:7

Please pray for all those in Albuquerque that worked at Eclipse Aviation and did not get paid yesterday. About 1,100 were told yesterday that the company did not have the money to pay them for their last two weeks of work and the State told them all to go home and await word about the companies future.

Let us all put our feet in the shoes of all those losing their jobs. Can you imagine how it felt to go into work and being told you will not be paid for your last two weeks of work?

Today call some one you have not heard from and ages.

Today tell a stranger hello.

Today give someone a nice surprise.........make their day!

Let us all turn to Our Father in Heaven!

I had State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones on New Mexico News and Views yesterday talking about the Eclipse situation and when asked about the situation, Janice was not quick to answer.......as she said sometimes we do not have the answers.....she is so right on......Man can try to solve the present economic condition of this country........but our TRUE answer in life is in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here is note from one of our dear friends, Joe Page. Joe and Linda of Car Pro's Auto Sales have been a strong supporter of KKIM since I came to be with the Radio Ministry. We are teaming with Joe and Linda's Church Montgomery Church of Christ to help get the word out about their free Thanksgiving meal for those in need. More information on this posting...........But I wanted to share with you a note that Joe sent.........

Keep up the good work Dewey! We're in the trenches everyday. We recently had a men's breakfast honoring veterans; when asked what branch of the service that I was in, I responded- " The Lord's Army", so that what they wrote on my name tag. JP

Joe is so right about being part of the Lord's Army! Remember that old time song..........Onward Christian Soldiers? I miss hearing that.........that is the type of song we need to be playing today as things get very tough for many. We are all part of God's Army.......Let us all reach out to those in need. Let us all stick together in Christ.

A special hello to Vickie and Lew of A-1 Travel, John Chitwood of Southern Blvd. Automotive, Bob Daniel, Robert Gibson all long time sponsors of KKIM!!!! God Bless you all!!!! To all of you who help sponsor KKIM, thanks so much for being with us!!!!

News from Kyle Martin, Jason Samuel, Goshen College Indiana..........The Indiana Connection!!!

Talked with Kyle Martin yesterday. You hear Kyle Sunday mornings at 8:30 on KKIM, he led Revive Santa Fe. The Goshen newspaper is doing a write up on Kyle. Kyle's hometown of Middleburry is right outside Goshen. Goshen is the home of the famous Goshen College, where one of my former staffers of WFRN, Jason Samuel is the manager of the College Radio station. Anyhow I still have many ties to Indiana as you can tell. I was asked by the reporter of the Goshen News why I put Kyle on KKIM. Simple.....God told me to. He is young, very passionate about God and God's word.......he has a message that needs to be heard, and we need new blood in Radio Ministry across the world. Listen to Kyle at 8:30am Sundays right after Pastor Vic Tafoya.

Just one more thing......When you go to http://www.mykkim.com/ and go to our program guide you will find out more about Kyle and his Church the Dallas Bible Church.

More thoughts from Oswald Chambers.......

JESUS NEVER MENTIONED unanswered prayer, He had the boundless certainty that prayer is always answered.

Here is a question to reflect on..........

What prayer am I trying to answer in my own strength?

Wow, what a question!

Okay now here is more details on the Montgomery Church of Christ Thanksgiving meal for the needy....they also need help serving. Can you help?

For those who may be struggling to have a good Thanksgiving meal, the Montgomery Church of Christ will be serving families within our community on Thanksgiving day, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, at no charge. The church is located at 7201 Montgomery NE, two blocks east of Louisiana on the north side of the street. A delicious traditional meal will be available. A phone call to the church would be appreciated (but not required) just to let them know how many will be with you. Call 884-7926. Again, Montgomery Church of Christ, 7201 Montgomery NE, lunch from 11:00 to 2:00 on Thanksgiving Day, no charge. Come. Be the guest of our Lord.

Let's check that mailbag.........I love mail! I would love to hear from you! Drop me a line.....Sharon and I would love it!

Dewey, Thank you for the wonderful encouragement in today's Midweek Cup. What sweet, sweet stories and words of wisdom that we need to hear. Glad Pastor Don is doing well. We are so blessed to have the power of prayer as such a vital part of our healing process! How could we ever go through life without Jesus! I am so blessed that my mother exposed me to Christ when I was young instead of "letting" me decide for myself as an adult as so many do today. My mother at 95 is suffering from dementia and has lost a great deal of her memory. BUT, she remembers her faith and sings old hymns over and over for comfort from her fear of not remembering other things.
Will be praying for you and Sharon today too. Love in Christ, Cherie Snow

Hi Dewey,

Great stores Dewey, especially the little boy and the shoes and the other little boy "helping the old man cry". Made me weep. Thanks, Frank (The Old Texan) Haley cjf Isa. 9:6"When the sunshine of God's love meets the showers of our sorrow, the rainbow of promise appears."

Dewey, PLEASE watch this……KKIM sure helped me get through this election, what a wonderful job you all did…..THANK YOU, Jan

Dewey, there's a rumor going around that "God owns the cattle on a thousand hills." Think He might sell a few? You'll enjoy this illustration I used recently on one of my programs, in that regard:
"Shortly after Dallas Theological Seminary was founded in 1924, it almost came to the point of bankruptcy. All the creditors were going to foreclose at noon on a particular day. That morning they met in the president’s office with Dr. Chafer for prayer that God would provide. In that prayer meeting was a man by the name of Dr. Harry Ironside. When it was his turn to pray, he prayed in his characteristic manner:

“Lord, we know that the cattle on a thousand hills are Yours. Please sell some of them and send us the money.”

While they were praying, a tall Texan with boots on and an open collar stepped up to the business office outside and said, “I just sold two carloads of cattle and I feel compelled to give the money to the seminary. I don’t know if you need it or not, but here’s the check!”

A little secretary took the check and, knowing how critical things were financially, rushed to the door of the prayer meeting and timidly tapped. When she finally got a response, Dr. Chafer took the check out of her hand. It was exactly the amount of the debt! When he looked at the name, he recognized the cattleman in Ft. Worth, and turning to Dr. Ironside he said, 'Harry, God sold the cattle!'"

Dewey, any cattlemen out there in the KKIM family"

Here is a great story from our AWESOME FRIEND NIK..............

May His Son bless you from today on out!

Why do I always have to be the one that starts to do laundry and there's no detergent? I guess it was time for me to do my 'Dollar Store' run, which included light bulbs, paper towels, trash bags and Clorox. So off I went.I scurried around the store, gathered up my goodies, and headed for the checkout counter only to be blocked in the narrow aisle by a young man that appeared to be about sixteen years old. I wasn't in a hurry, so I patiently waited for the boy to realize that I was there...This was when he waved his hands excitedly in the air and declared in a loud voice, 'Mommy, I'm over here.' It was obvious now, he was mentally challenged, and also startled as he turned and saw me standing so close to him, waiting to squeeze by. His eyes widened and surprise exploded on his face as I said, "Hey Buddy, what's your name?""My name is Denny and I'm shopping with my mother," he responded proudly."Wow," I said, "that's a cool name; I wish my name was Denny, but my name is Hal.""Hal like Halloween?" he asked."Yes," I answered. "How old are you, Denny?""How old am I now, Mommy?" he asked his mother as she slowly came over from the next aisle."You're fifteen-years-old Denny; now be a good boy and let the man pass by."

I acknowledged her and continued to talk to Denny for several more minutes about summer, bicycles and school. I watched his brown eyes dance with excitement because he was the center of someone's attention. He then abruptly turned and headed toward the toy section.Denny's mom had a puzzled look on her face and thanked me for taking the time to talk with her son.She told me that most people wouldn't even look at him, much less talk to him... I told her that it was my pleasure and then I said something I have no idea where it came from, other than by the prompting of the Holy Spirit.I told her that there are plenty of red, yellow and pink roses in God's garden, however, 'Blue Roses' are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness. You see, Denny is a 'Blue Rose' and if someone doesn't stop and smell that rose with their heart and touch that rose with their kindness, then they've missed a blessing from God.She was silent for a second, then with a tear in her eye she asked, "Who are you?"Without thinking I said, "Oh, I'm probably just a 'daffodil or maybe even a dandelion," but I sure love living in God's garden.
Be blessed, Be safe, Be Alright.
Help Others and God will take care of you.Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved.
God Bless you all, Dewey Sharon and family
Please keep praying for each other and our families.

Suport Cross International

Hi KKIM Family, It was over 2 years ago that my dear friend Tom Lewis came to KKIM and helped raise funds for Cross International that helps the poorest of the poor, orphans. All day November 19th and for a half day on November 20th Tom and his brother Robert will be on the air to talk to you about the efforts of Cross International and the need for funds. Please prayfully consider taking part in this HUGE effort to raise funds for orphans.

MIDWEEK CUP KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Go check out www.mykkim.com we have a special effort to aid orphans starting next week with Cross International. Please go check out the info and please pray about taking part in this HUGE effort. You can take part no matter where you are at......Minnesota, New York, California, wherever........just make sure and indicate you are part of the KKIM family. Thanks so much.

The first person to email me get's a free copy of the Christmas book, "A Shepherds Prayer"

Reflect on this and spend time in prayer............

Am I depending on myself to do what only God can do?

Am I depending on God to do what HE expects me to do?

Those are very impactive questions! WOW! think about it and pray about it.

I think that is why a life of prayer is so important.......to seek the Lord's Will in everything to sort through the challenges we face everyday. Life get's crazy at times and we may get in a hurry and act impulsive.

Today I post a note from our dear friend Pastor Don Kimbro who is out of the hospital! We should be hearing any day now on the test results of Pastor Vic. Please keep this matter in your prayers.

Hi Dewey,Thank you so much for speaking to our Seniors yesterday. Mark tells me it was a wonderful message and event to honor our older generation. I am back in the land of the living. I was freed yesterday morning, too late to make it to church but thankful for the healing. My diagnosis was gastrointestinal bleeding from a diverticuli. It was painless but a lot of blood loss. Doctor said this type of bleeding usually clears up on its own in 48 hours. Dewey, we prayed (and so many others with us) that Jesus would do to this older man's body, what He did to the woman with an issue of blood. In less than 18 hours after being hospitalized, the blood flow stopped and has not reoccurred. Praise His wonderful Name! Thank you for your calls and prayers and those of your faithful audience. My church family surrounded me with many, many prayers, as well. Prayers and our LORD get it done, don't they?. God bless.Pastor Don

Yes, KKIM Family prayer is so AWESOME it is our communication to our FATHER. We can talk to our FATHER all the time!

The Lord told me years ago to pray and care for many. Thank you for being part of it............here is another thought on prayer from Oswald Chambers........

Impulse in anyone but a child is dangerous; it is the sign of something unstable and unreliable. Determination means to fix the form of our choice, and God demands that we use this power when we pray. The majority of us waste our time in mere impulses in prayer.

I was talking to Pastor Don about seeking the Lord's Will and he sent this.........

Dewey, keep this scripture in mind as you ponder and pray for God's will:Trust in the LORD and do good.Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it.He will bring forth your righteousness as the light. And your judgment as the noonday.Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him. — Psm. 37:3-7 (NAS)

Thank you Pastor Don!

Today think the Lord ordered this up for all of us...........

These are such GOODIES!!!! Thanks for passing them along Nik!
Future leaders in the true Faith and Optimist Club...

Every once in awhile someone sends me an Email that really hits me. This is> one of those:>> Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked> to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.>> The winner was:>> A four-year-old child, whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman,> who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went> into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.> When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy> just said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry.'>> *********************************************>> Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of a family> where one little boy in the picture had a different hair color than the> other members. One of her students suggested that he was adopted. A little> girl said, 'I know all about adoption, I was adopted..'>> 'What does it mean to be adopted?', asked another child.>> 'It means', said the girl, 'that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of> her tummy!'>> *********************************************>> On my way home one day, I stopped to watch a Little League base ball game> that was being played in a park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench> on the first-base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was ?>> 'We're behind 14 to nothing,' he answered with a smile.>> 'Really,' I said. 'I have to say you don't look very discouraged.'>> 'Discouraged?', the boy asked with a puzzled look on his face...'Why should> we be discouraged? We haven't been up to bat yet.'>> *********************************************>> Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about> little Jamie Scott.>> Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told me that> he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.>> On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after> school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement.> 'Guess what, Mom,' he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a> lesson to me.....'I've been chosen to clap and cheer.>> *********************************************>> An eye witness account from New York City , on a cold day in December, some> years ago: A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe> store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering> with cold.>> A lady approached the young boy and said, 'My, but you're in such deep> thought staring in that window!'>> 'I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,' was the boy's reply.>> The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to> get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give> her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.>> She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her> gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel.>> By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the> boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes.>> She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him.. She patted> him on the head and said, 'No doubt, you will be more comfortable now'>> As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking> up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her,>> 'Are you God's wife?'

Veterans Day 2008 KKIM/DDC

Good Morning KKIM Family,

Today the Post Office, Banks, and Government offices are closed because of Veterans Day.

Let not this day just be a day for people to have the day off.........

Let this be a day where we pay tribute to those who have and are serving our Country.

This year's Veterans Day marks the 90th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice Treaty, which ended World War I when Germany and the Western Allies agreed to a cease-fire. The Armistice was signed at 11am on Nov. 11th. 1918------ the 11th hour the 11th day of the 11th month.

I was very pleased this morning to find scripture in my daily newspaper, the Albuquerque Journal! On this Veterans Day someone has purchased a little ad in the news section and posted this scripture on Veterans day 2008...........

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Mark 10:45

Such fitting scripture for today.

I remember my Dad and his 6 brothers who served at once in WWII on this day............

I remember my dear friend Roger Carey from Windom, Minn (My Hometown) who was killed in Vietnam after just serving 6 months.

I remember all those like Roger who did not return home from all the wars............and the Mom's, Dad's, Brother's, Sisters, Grandma's and Grandpa's who never saw their loved one's again after they left home to fight for our Country.

They fought for you and me and the United States of America, One Nation Under God.

Praise God for all the DAVID's who faced the giants!

So today my prayer is that you will take time and go to your knees in prayer and thank the Lord for all the Men and Women who have and are fighting for us. Please also pray for their families.

God Bless, Dewey Sharon and family

Monday's CUP!!! KKIM/DDC

Good Morning KKIM Family!!!!

Higher Ground..........

I'm pressing on the upward way, New heights I'm gaining every day

Still praying as I'm onward bound, "Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."

Lord lift me up and let me stand By faith on heaven's table land

A higher plane than I have found--- Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

That is from the song book at Heights Christian Church..AWESOME!

A pastor from Ecuador spoke and his message was we all need to be DAVID's and persevere!!! His sermon was AWESOME! We need to face the GAINTS! Our Lord is with us! I think I left my notes at the Church.so sorry, but the Pastor knows the Moore family who I worked for many years in Indiana. Ed Moore mentored me in Christian radio. Ed's Dad Clarence Moore helped start HCJB Radio in Ecuador. Parents are selling their daughters.....just 13 to 14 years of age for prostitution. Poverty is a huge problem in Ecuador. I want to have the Pastor on my show before he goes back home.

I spoke at the Senior's lunch afterwards, as Heights honored it 55 plus folks for their outstanding faithfulness to God and the Church.
We had some fun going back in history to 1940 when a new home cost $3,920.00...........gas was 11 cents a gallon..........average cost of a new car was $950.00............the neat thing was several KNEW what the price was for gas back then!

This next Sunday Sharon and I travel to Milan, NM to speak at Immanuel Baptist Church. Pastor Garland Moore is such a dear friend! We look forward to this Sunday so much!!!

Here is an update on Pastor Don Kimbro.........Pastor Mark Scales said Don was to be released Sunday afternoon from the hospital and he was doing great! PRAISE GOD!!

Here is an update on Tom Gunn who we have been praying for all weekend!!!
Tim Gunn is showing improvements today. Thank you for keeping him in your prayers. I know that God is watching over him and it is amazing how many people believe in God and miracles.

Thank you for your prayers for KKIM's Frank Haley, just 2 weeks after hip replacement he is back at work doing the news today!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!

Thank you all who pray with us..........your prayers are so much appreciated!!!!

This Ministry was started years ago for the Lord and HIS people to help care for his sheep. This Ministry is tied to the Bible and prayer. Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart for being here.

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and HIS ears are open to their prayers. 1 Peter 3:12

Worrying is paying interest on troubles that may never come due! Richard De Haan

The test of a preacher is that his congregation goes away saying not, "What a lovely sermon!" but, "I will do something." Billy Graham

Tuesday is Veterans Day..........We salute all those who have and are serving our Country!

On Tuesday, November 11, Americans honor military veterans with parades and speeches. However, all year long, volunteers with the Veterans History Project honor the men and women who served in our military by listening and recording their military stories.

When the Veterans History Project started in 2000, the push was to interview any remaining World War I veterans. That generation has passed and the emphasis now is to interview as many WWII veterans as possible. However, the Veterans History Project interviews anyone who has served in the military up to the present time as well as those who worked in defense-related endeavors.

Veterans History Project volunteers help preserve pieces of history. Some veterans have never before told their story and are touched when someone cares enough to listen. Dedicated volunteers hear history firsthand.

The Library of Congress American Folklore Center archives the audio recordings and related documents. In our state, The Veterans History Project also sends a copy of all materials to the New Mexico Veterans Memorial, Museum & Conference Center. Of the 60,000 interviews across our nation, the group of fewer than twenty New Mexico volunteers at Albuquerque Oasis have conducted between 250 and 300 interviews. Lee Courtnage, himself a veteran, has done about half of these interviews. Courtnage also trains and encourages other interviewers and makes presentations on behalf of the program to veterans groups and other organizations. When asked what motivates him to be involved with the Veterans History Project, Courtnage said, "These guys sacrificed so much for our country, and it's a privilege to be able to capture those moments. I get personal satisfaction in being able to preserve the military story for future generations. WW-II veterans are now in their 80's and 90's so preserving their oral histories are critical. Tom Brokaw called our WW-II veterans members of the Greatest Generation."

No matter where you live in New Mexico, the Veterans History Project is looking for both veterans and interviewers. If you're interested in either, contact Albuquerque Oasis at 505.889.0927.For information on the national efforts visit the Veterans History Project national web site at http://www.loc.gov/vet.

Thank you for honoring our nation's veterans.

Sincerely,
Linda Jewell

As I said in Church yesterday, America needs to cool it's heels...........
The next two messages address the recent election...........

Billy Graham once said.."Hot heads and cold hearts never solved anything."

Billy Graham would love to pray with President elect Obama...............

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Billy Graham has counseled every American president since Dwight Eisenhower. But the evangelist known for his globe-trotting crusades has no plans to mentor Barack Obama, though his son did say his father would like to meet the president-elect and pray with him.
Graham turned 90 on Friday. His son, the Rev. Franklin Graham, told The Associated Press that Billy Graham's mind remains sharp even as his body continues to fail.
Billy Graham still remains engaged in the planning and direction of the ministry he founded, but his days as a pastor to presidents have faded.
"My father feels like his time and day for that is over," Franklin Graham said. "But he would certainly like to meet (Obama) and pray with him."
About 160 of Billy Graham's family and friends celebrated his birthday Friday at his home in Montreat with fried chicken, barbecue and sweet tea. His ministry had received some 100,000 greetings, including a video from President Bush.
His health contrasts starkly with his days commanding a ministry that put him behind the pulpit to speak with 215 million people in more than 185 countries and placed him in the confidence of some of the world's most powerful people.
Billy Graham's views are still respected in White House circles. Republican presidential candidate John McCain called on Graham at his mountainside home during the campaign, and Obama tried to meet him but was unable to due to the preacher's poor health.
Though never partisan in his preaching, Billy Graham is a registered Democrat.
His son expressed concern about Obama's views on abortion and gay marriage — an issue Franklin Graham raised in a meeting with the Illinois senator — saying that he and is father are conservatives who believe the Bible speaks clearly on those issues.
"President-elect Obama heard our position," said Franklin Graham, who now heads the Charlotte-based Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. "And I told him that this was very difficult for us and hard for us. It's a moral issue that we just can't back down on."
Obama favors abortion rights, and does not support a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. He supports civil unions and believes states should decide their own laws about marriage.
Meanwhile, Billy Graham's health remains a concern among family and friends, who note he still struggles with the loss of his wife, Ruth, who died last year.
He was hospitalized last year for nearly two weeks after experiencing intestinal bleeding, and he has also had prostate cancer. Earlier this year, he had elective surgery to update a shunt that controls excess fluid on his brain. The shunt was first installed in 2000 and drains fluid from through a small tube, relieving excess pressure that can cause symptoms similar to Parkinson's disease.
"He could catch a cold and his life could come to an end," Franklin Graham said. "At his age, any little thing could be a serious event. We realize that."
Despite his limitations he still has one thing: a booming voice.
This weekend, that voice will once again cross borders when a message dubbed in Portuguese will be broadcast in Brazil in an effort to bring some 1 million new believers into the fold.
And privately, he has been working on a book about aging, trying to put his late-life lessons into context for those soon to follow him.
"He's always been ready to die," Franklin Graham said. "But nobody's prepared him for getting old."

Cal Thomas has a great point here.................

Evangelicals Need To Try New Path
By Cal Thomas

When Barack Obama takes the oath of office on Jan. 2o, 2009, he will do so in the 30th anniversary year of the founding of the so-called Religious Right. Born in 1979 and midwifed by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, the Religious Right was a reincarnation of previous religious-social movements that sought moral improvement through legislation and court rulings. Those earlier movements---from abolition (successful) to Prohibition (unsuccessful) ---had mixed results.

Social movements that relied mainly on political power to enforce a conservative moral code weren’t anywhere near as successful as those that focused on changing hearts. The four religious revivals, from the First Great Awakening in the 1730s and 1740s to the Fourth Great Awakening in the late 1960s and early ‘70s, which touched America and instantly transformed millions of Americans (and American culture as a result), are testimony to that.

Thirty years of trying to use government to stop abortion, preserve opposite-sex marriage, improve television and movie content and transform culture into the conservative Evangelical image has failed. The question now becomes: should conservative Christians redouble their efforts, contribution more millions to radio and TV preachers and activists, or would they be wise to try something else?

I opt for trying something else.

Too many conservative Evangelicals have put too much faith in the power of government to transform culture. The futility inherent in such misplaced faith can be demonstrated by asking these activists a simple question: Does the secular left, when it holds power, persuade conservatives to live by their standards? Of course they do not. Why, then, would conservative Evangelicals expect people who do not share their world-view and view of God to accept their beliefs when they control government?

Too many conservative Evangelicals mistake political power for influence Politicians who struggle with imposing a moral code on themselves are unlikely to succeed in their attempts to impose it on others. What is the answer, then, for conservative Evangelicals who are rightly concerned about the corrosion of culture, the indifference to the value of human life and the living arrangements of same- and opposite-sex couples?

The answer depends on the response to another question: do conservative Evangelicals want to feel good, or do they want to adopt a strategy that actually produces results? Clearly, partisan politics have not achieved their objectives. Do they think they can succeed by committing themselves to 30 more years of the same?

If results are what conservative Evangelicals want, they already have a model. It is contained in the life and commands of Jesus of Nazareth. Suppose millions of
conservative Evangelicals engaged in an old and proven type of radical behavior. Suppose they followed the admonition of Jesus to “love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit those in prison and care for widows and orphans,” not as ends, and so many liberals do by using government, but as a means of demonstrating God’s love for the whole person in order that people might seek Him?

Such a strategy could be more “transformational” than electing a new president, even the first president of color. But in order to succeed, such a strategy would not be led by charismatic figures, who would raise lots of money, be interviewed on Sunday talk shows, author books and make gobs of money.

God teaches in His Word that His power (if that is what conservative Evangelicals want and not their puny attempts at grabbing earthly power) is made perfect in weakness. He speaks of the tiny mustard seed, the seemingly worthless widow’s mite, of taking the last place at the table and the humbling of one’s self, the washing of feet and similar acts and attitudes; the still, small voice. How did conservative Evangelicals miss this and instead settle for a lesser power, which in reality is no power at all? When did they settle for an inferior “kingdom”?

Evangelicals are at a junction. They can take the path that will lead them to more futility and ineffective attempts to reform culture through government, or they can embrace the far more powerful methods outlined by the One they claim to follow. By following His example, they will decrease, but He will increase. They will get no credit, but they will see results. If conservative Evangelicals choose obscurity and seek to glorify God, they will get much of what they hope for, but can never achieve, in and through politics.

This is so AWESOME hearing from old friends.........

Hi Dewey,

Sorry I don’t write you more often. The frequency of my correspondence (or lack of) is not a reflection of the value of your friendship. I am so happy for you and the ministry you have. Today you are referencing from one of my favorite books of the Bible – Job. I don’t know how many times I have read that book. I can read it in an evening. It has helped me so much.

I’m going to put reminders in Outlook to write you more often. Oh, Lars is one of my friends at Face book. Talk to him about facebook.com, I think it was made for you! Ha!

I still love you after all these years! God Bless,

Jimmy C

Thank you Tan and Jimmy for making my day!!! We love you both!!!

Until the next time.........please keep praying..............for each other and our families!
