SUPER BOWL CUP!!! KKIM/DDC

Hello KKIM Family!
Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 15:57

Please keep in your prayers the Judiciary hearing that may be today on the same sex marriage bill at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe.

Don't bow to your feelings. Make them bow to your God. Jennifer Rothschild

Many years ago my mentor Ed Moore talked to me about my daily walk with Jesus Christ and how important it was to have folks around me to hold me accountable. After watching Larry King's interview with Pastor Ted Haggard last night....I want to encourage us to walk with each other and hold each other accountable. Dark things are done in dark rooms........where God's light does not shine bad things happen. How close do you come to having dark thoughts and doing dark things?

Look what happened to this wonderful Pastor, Ted Haggard.....he was living a secret life. We can all fall.......Just read the life of David in the Bible.......another reason to have loved ones around us to hold us accountable. Stay in the word of God........but have others around you to make sure you are staying in the word and also doing God's word.

Just look what has happened on Wall Street! Yesterday President Obama came down heavy on these big wig's who have taken millions and at the same time have taken bail out money. It has been a dark, dark world on Wall Street...........Let the light of Christ in!

Our dear friend, State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones........is trying to bring light to the Roundhouse by webcasting legislative hearings. It is now being debated. But read this comment from Rep. Ray Begaye........and this is HIS WORDS........"If I'm sleeping and it's being recorded, that could be used for political gain against me by my opponent." WOW! AMAZING! I could not believe his words!!!!!

Praise God for people like State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones who are trying to bring light to a Roundhouse that needs MORE LIGHT!

"With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

Remember New Mexico.....you have an alternative to afternoon news and talk........New Mexico News and Views weekdays at 4:30 on KKIM www.mykkim.com
We are actually getting calls from atheists.......yes! Did you know that 40% of those who listen to Christian Radio do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? That is how important the mission of Christian radio is! `

Faith still at core of Warner's success
Cardinals quarterback goes out of his way to credit God
27 commentsby Paola Boivin - Jan. 9, 2009 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic

"If you ever really want to do a story about who I am, God's got to be at the center of it. Every time I hear a piece or read a story that doesn't have that, they're missing the whole lesson of who I am." - Kurt Warner

It has become part of the sports landscape. Athletes congregate on the field after a game to pray or offer a sound bite thanking a higher power.

It rarely makes the news.

Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner understands this. The man who led this organization to its first home playoff game since 1947 knows that discussion about resurrections comes only in the context of career revivals and that tape recorders shut off when faith references start up.

During a visit to The Oprah Winfrey Show, Warner "basically had three sentences to say, so, in the middle one, I made sure I mentioned my faith, because how could they cut it out?" he said. "I went to watch the show on replay . . . and they cut it out!"

Warner, 37, is right. There is dishonesty in telling his story if you ignore what drives him, especially if you accept its role in one of the NFL's great success stories. In five years, he went from a 22-year-old stock boy at a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, grocery store to Super Bowl MVP. He has morphed again, from unemployed veteran to record-setting starting quarterback with the Cardinals, who on Sunday play in the Super Bowl.

"I wasn't always this way," he said.

During his final season at the University of Northern Iowa in 1993, Warner went to a country-music dance bar called Wild E. Coyotes. He spotted Brenda Carney Meoni and asked her to dance. Her immediate reaction?

"Get away. Get away," she thought.

"Here's this cute guy in a bar with an entourage of females, and I'm the last person that makes sense for him to go to," Brenda said. "I'm a divorced woman with two kids, one with special needs. And Kurt's 21. Twenty-one."

They danced, and the next day, Warner was knocking on her door with a rose.

"Again, I'm screaming in my head, 'Go away!' but I opened the door and said, 'C'mon in,' " she said. "My 2 1/2-year-old grabs him by the hand and shows him every radio we own.

"He fell in love with my kids before he fell in love with me. When we'd have a fight and were going to break up, he'd say, 'Well I get the kids.' I'm like, 'But they're my kids!' "

They stuck together, even when it appeared football wasn't in Warner's future. He signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent in 1994 but was cut before the season began. He returned to UNI to work as a graduate assistant football coach and spent nights stocking shelves at the local Hy-Vee grocery store. He moved in with Brenda, who was struggling financially and turned to food stamps for a while. They drove a car that died every time it turned left.

He landed with the Arena Football League's Iowa Barnstormers in 1995 and three years later was signed by the St. Louis Rams, who allocated him to the NFL's developmental league in Europe. His backup with the Amsterdam Admirals was Jake Delhomme, now the Panthers' quarterback.

Around this time, Warner began challenging Brenda about her faith. She had become a devout Christian as a 12-year-old after seeing a fundamentalist Christian film called A Distant Thunder (1978). Warner questioned her, suggesting she was picking and choosing her beliefs from the Bible at her convenience. During this exploration, he closely studied the Bible.

"When I did, it was obvious what the truth was," Warner said.

He committed himself to the Bible's message. That's Warner's way, why he has succeeded in football. He studies, commits, believes.

Before they married, he told Brenda they should follow the Bible faithfully, which meant, among other things, no premarital sex.

"I'm like, 'Dude, we've got so many other things to work on. Why that one?' " Brenda, now 41, said, laughing.

They married in 1997. In 1999, he took over as the Rams' quarterback when starter Trent Green was injured. What followed was two Super Bowls, two MVP titles and a legion of Christian followers.

He was both revered and scorned for his outspokenness about faith. Since Warner's arrival in Arizona in 2005, and the revival of his career, people here treat his religion with more curiosity than debate. Many were amused by Warner giving an invocation one year at Celebrity Fight Night, a popular black-tie fundraiser for Muhammad Ali's Parkinson Research Center. Ali is of the Muslim faith.

"I never feel like, 'Should I say this, or do I not,' but I do try now to strategically figure out (during interviews) how I can get somebody to include it because it's so important to who I am," Warner said.

How does Warner express his faith? He always has the Bible in his hand when he does postgame interviews. He joins players in postgame group-prayer sessions on the field. He loves to engage in spiritual discussions with teammates but says he tries not to be in-your-face about it. He wants the words of the Bible to guide his everyday life.

When he and his family dine on the road, they always buy dinner for another table in the restaurant but keep the purchase anonymous. The children choose the family. Brenda Warner said it's their way of teaching their kids one of the Bible's messages: It's not your circumstances that define you but what you do with those circumstances.

Warner shouldn't be categorized only one way, Delhomme said.

"Football doesn't define Kurt Warner, and I think that's the biggest thing to me. It's not who he is. Kurt Warner is a lot bigger."

Added Cardinals defensive tackle Bertrand Berry: "To limit Kurt as a Super Bowl champion would do a disservice to him. I think his legacy will be that he's just a great human being, and I think that's the highest compliment that you can give anybody."

A MUST READ STORY........

KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND
BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL

In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice
came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register 4. Kurtis was
almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the
call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the
new check-out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was
only 22) and he fell in love.

Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find
out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card
and punched out, then left. He looked at her card, BRENDA. He walked out only
to see her start walking up the road. Next day, he waited outside as she left
the supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she
accepted. When he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again,
outside of work. She simply said it wasn't possible.

He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a
baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter. Reluctantly she accepted
his offer for a date for the following Saturday. That Saturday night he arrived
at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The
baby-sitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well,
let's take the kids with us."

She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not
taking no for an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda, brought him inside to meet
her children. She had an older daughter Jessie, who was just as cute as a bug, Kurtis
thought, then Brenda brought out her son, Zachary in a wheelchair. He was born a
paraplegic with Down Syndrome.

Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why the kids can't
come with us?" Brenda was amazed. Most men would run away from a woman
with two kids, especially if one had disabilities - just like her first husband
and father of her children had done. Kurtis was not ordinary - - - he had a
different mindset.

That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids, went to dinner and the
movies. When her son needed anything Kurtis would take care of him. When he
needed to use the restroom, he picked him up out of his wheelchair, took him and
brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the end of the evening, Brenda
knew this was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life
with.

A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted Jessie and Zachary.
Since then Brenda and Kurtis have added five children of their own: sons Elijah and Kade, daughter Jada, and twin girls Sierra Rose and Sienna Rae.

So what happened to Kurtis the stock boy and Brenda the check-out girl? Well,
Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner now live in Arizona , where he is currently employed
as the quarterback of the National Football League Arizona Cardinals and has his
Cardinals in the hunt for a possible appearance in the Super Bowl. Is this a
surprise ending or could you have guessed that he was not an ordinary person.
Both Brenda and Kurt are active born-again Christians.

It should be noted that he also quarterbacked the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
He has also been the NLF's Most Valuable Player twice and the Super Bowl's
Most Valuable Player.

The picture above was taken Feb. 12, 2005 while, then, New York quarterback
Kurt Warner, and his wife Brenda Warner, listen as they are explained the medical
capabilities of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) hospital ship USNS Mercy
(T-AH 19) as they visit an injured Indonesian boy. Warner and his, then, teammate, Giants
wide receiver Amani Toomer, visited the crew and patients aboard the hospital ship.
Mercy was off the waters of Indonesia in support of Operation Unified Assistance,
the humanitarian relief effort to aid the victims of the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia.

Life is what is happening NOW. It is
not a rehearsal. Seize the moment!!

I don’t know who you’re pulling for in the Super Bowl……I like the Cardinals…..he’s my kind of guy. geri

From God’s Perspective
by Max Lucado

“We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have died, to make sure that you do not grieve about them, like the other people who have no hope” (Thessalonians 4:13 JB).

The Thessalonian church had buried her share of loved ones. And the apostle wanted the members who remained to be at peace regarding the ones who had gone ahead. Many of you have buried loved ones as well. And just as God spoke to them, he speaks to you.
If you’ll celebrate a marriage anniversary alone this year, he speaks to you.
If your child made it to heaven before making it to kindergarten, he speaks to you.
If you lost a loved one in violence, if you learned more than you want to know about disease, if your dreams were buried as they lowered the casket, God speaks to you.
He speaks to all of us who have stood or will stand in the soft dirt near an open grave. And to us he gives this confident word: “I want you to know what happens to a Christian when he dies so that when it happens, you will not be full of sorrow, as those who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and then came back to life again, we can also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him all the Christians who have died” (1 Thess. 4:13–14 TLB).
God transforms our hopeless grief into hope-filled grief. How? By telling us that we will see our loved ones again.
Isn’t that what we want to believe? We long to know that our loved ones are safe in death. We long for the reassurance that the soul goes immediately to be with God. But dare we believe it? Can we believe it? According to the Bible we can.
Scripture is surprisingly quiet about this phase of our lives. When speaking about the period between the death of the body and the resurrection of the body, the Bible doesn’t shout; it just whispers. But at the confluence of these whispers, a firm voice is heard. This authoritative voice assures us that at death the Christian immediately enters into the presence of God and enjoys conscious fellowship with the Father and with those who have gone before.
Where do I get such ideas? Listen to some of the whispers:
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far.
(Phil. 1:21–23 NIV)
We don’t like to say good-bye to those we love. But if what the Bible says about heaven is true, and I believe it is, then the ultimate prayer, the ultimate answered prayer, is heaven.
It is right for us to weep, but there is no need for us to despair. They had pain here. They ha ve no pain there. They struggled here. They have no struggles there. You and I might wonder why God took them home. But they don’t. They understand. They are, at this very moment, at peace in the presence of God.

Please keep praying for each other and our families!

As a discipline of your heart, learn to be peaceful and safe in God in every situation. Anne Ortlund.

KKIM NEWS ALERT SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN NM

Dear KKIM Family,

Forgive me........it has been a long day..........started at 5am..........now the computer is giving me fits trying to get this news alert out. But the good news is....while waiting my Oswald Chambers book fell on the floor and opened up to this.....how timely...........

Measure your growth in grace by your sensitiveness to sin.

That sure lines up with the following issue.........

We broke into our regular programming tonight to give you the vote of the Consumer Affairs Committee on the Domestic Partnership

bill( same sex marriage) at 5:50pm tonight. The vote was 5 to 4 in favor. According to State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones who joined

me live on the air, the Judiciary Committee now takes up the bill. When does that happen? We have no idea at this time. As Pastor Steve Smothermon said, It could be at 2am this morning for all we know.

Pastor Smothermon of Legacy Church of Albuquerque who is one of the leaders of the movement to defeat this bill said

the committee could meet at anytime, so it is urgent for you to make your voice heard by calling and emailing the Judiciary

committee members.

Go to the Legislature web site for more info www.nmlegis.gov/lcs/

Call the Legislature at this number 505-986-4300

Hundred's of Christians from all over the State showed up to voice their opposition to the bill today. Thanks to all of you

who made the trip to Santa Fe and special thanks to you all who called me to keep me posted.

KKIM will continue to cover this story 24 hours a day.

We are planning a live interview with Pastor Steve Smothermon at 10:05 am Thursday morning for an update, Lord willing.

KKIM's Frank Haley will have more details all morning long.

Please keep praying and calling!

Here are a couple of prayer Needs.........

The Director of The Storehouse food pantry here in Albuquerque, Lee Maynard told me today that they now feed 40,000 people...

Just think of it..........picture Lobo football stadium full of hungry people. The Storehouse feeds about 7 to 8 percent of

Albuquerque. Lee said that some food pantry's in the United States have closed because of the lack of support in their

communities. That is not the case here in the Duke City as the citizens have responded to the need of the Storehouse for

donations. In a scene never seen before at the Storehouse, a man showed up in a suit and tie because he lost his job

and had to get food for his family and then go on a job interview. Please keep the hungry in your prayers and the folks like Lee

who work at The Storehouse.

Here is an update on Gail who we have been praying for..............

Greetings Dewey and family,
Please keep praying for Gail, she is not doing very good, and the prayers of the 'Prayer Warriors' are needed very much. She has very many friends and family that are hurting so very much right now. Gods Will Be Done On Earth As It Is In Heaven.
In Gods Grace, Sam

Dewey,
Bill Haley was a good friend of mine, he taught me horseback riding when I was younger.
He also just passed away, He was only 50 years old am so sad your friend Cowboy Clarence

Please keep all these needs in your prayers.

PRAYER NEEDS/ROUNDHOUSE UPDATE KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Our prayers are with Cowboy Clarence and his family as his Uncle Richard passed away yesterday in Albuquerque. Clarence knows that his Uncle Richard is now with the Lord, but will miss him here on earth. Uncle Richard used to take Clarence to a lot of festivals and they had lot's of fun together. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Please pray for Gene Jenkins of Santa Fe who has skin cancer. Please pray for healing.

Please pray for a good outcome of the hearing at the Roundhouse and the Meeting of
Catholic Leaders with Gov. Richardson this afternoon.

This afternoon at 2:30 is the first hearing on the same sex marriage bill. Please keep this in your prayers. Also please pray for Gov. Bill Richardson that he will have a change of heart. Keep this in your prayers........The Gov. is going to meet with leaders of the Catholic Church this afternoon at 3:30. The Gov. is Catholic. The Catholic Church is one of the leaders in trying to get the same sex marriage bill defeated. Let us pray for our Gov. What is happening here is so AWESOME! Last night on New Mexico News and Views Pastor Steve Smothermon talked about the efforts of all.........Evangelicals, Protestants, Catholics.......all coming together to defeat this bill. The Catholic Church leaders have a letter from the Pope denouncing this bill. Walls are coming down and brining God's people together, that is one blessing I see going on here!

This is from Pastor/Congressman Bill Redmond..........

The legislative web site has 505-986-4300.

We are asking for massive numbers of calls to flood in beginning at noon Wednesday to help set the stage and tone for the hearing. Ask your listeners and viewers to call their senators, reps and the Governors office. Be praying during the 3:30 hour. The Catholic bishops will be meeting with the governor.

Joint Hearing Plans Being Kept Secret

SANTA FE, NM - Since the beginning of the week, the halls of the
Roundhouse and the blogosphere has been abuzz with rumors that Domestic
Partnership proponents are pushing for a joint hearing of the Senate
Judiciary and Public Affairs committees in an effort to rush the bill
through and stifle public input.

The Senate Daybook for Wednesday, January 28, 2009, was released this
evening. It shows a 2:30 p.m. meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee
in– Room 321 to discuss SB 12, the Domestic Partner bill. However, a
call to Senate staff confirms that there has been talk about a joint
hearing on the floor for tomorrow afternoon. Waiting until tomorrow to
announce the joint hearing is sure to leave many second guessing the
motives of the committees' leadership.

"Less than a week ago 3,000 New Mexicans marched on the Roundhouse to let
the legislators know that we oppose this attempt to redefine marriage,"
said Pastor Steve Smothermon of Voices for Family Values. "Now, it appears
that Senate proponents of the bill are trying to stifle our voices. By
combining the committees, they will be severely limiting public input on a
bill which will have serious ramifications for all New Mexicans."

Recent Supreme Court decisions in California and Connecticut have
demonstrated that recently passed domestic-partnership laws are now being
used to redefine marriage. Questions have also been raised in the legal
community about the threat to religious freedom and the additional burdens
it will place on businesses.

About Voices for Family Values
Voices for Family Values is a coalition of concerned New Mexicans
committed to traditional family values including that the definition of
marriage remains as the union of one man and one woman.

Now will join me in the reading of God's word and prayer..........From Nik...........

VERSE:
He [the one who delights in and meditates upon the Law of the
Lord] is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its
fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does
prospers.
-- Psalm 1:3

THOUGHT:
Some kinds of earthly delight can feed our hearts for a short
time. However, when difficulties come, our hearts will wither in
the drought of their false nourishment. On the other hand,
delighting in the LORD and in his will for us provides us with
ongoing and ever-fresh joy. Out of this God-seeking lifestyle come
both short-term and long-term benefits as well as a resiliency that
withstands life's worst droughts.

PRAYER:
Dear God, the Holy One of heaven, I do find my delight in you
and your ways. I find my refreshment in your abiding Spirit. Please
give me the wisdom to seek your will every day of my life. In
Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Good Day KKIM Family, Our love to you all!

PRAISE NOTES: Baby Lilly's health has improved. Thanks for your prayers. She is breathing better and sleeping well. Please keep her in your prayers.

Also another PRAISE!!! Last week I told you about the sudden illness of 6 year old Reneesha Box. She is the daughter of Bobby Box longtime radio announcer here in New Mexico on BIG OLDIES. She is improving. Bobby told me that the pain is about gone and she is eating a bit. The Doctor's still do not know what the problem is. You can imagine the concern of Bobby and his wife. Please keep Reneesha in your prayers.

I really never know when I am going to write.........as I pray what the Lord will's......not mine.........God moves me and gives me the words to share with you.

It all started last week when a man in his 30's, a Christian asked me, "Dewey, why do you care?" WOW! That question set me back........I had to think about that for a minute, because I was so surprised by the question. Why wouldn't I care about God's people? So after taking a deep breath I answered, "I care because God calls us to care for each other and also to help HIS people." He then said, "What other people do is their business and I don't really care what they do." My dad would call that putting the blinders on. We do need to care for each other and be good witnesses for Christ.

We have to care for each other.........yesterday when the news broke that 50,000 Americans had lost their jobs ......my heart sank.........with every job loss my heart and soul ache for the individuals and their families. Last night I could not get to sleep because I was in such mourning for these folks. I thought about what I would do if I was out of a job...I tried to put myself in their shoes.

What we are witnessing is a almost total break down of America as we have known it. What will arise from these bad times is up to us all. We can build back a better America.

I believe it starts with our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. It starts with caring for each other. It starts with prayer.

The only hope we have is daily dependence on the Living Lord. It's the only way we can make it. He's touched with our feelings of infirmity, our weakness, our inability in the dark and lonely times to say no. He's touched with that. And HE says, "I'M ready with all the power you need. Call on ME and I'll give you what you need."

So? Call on HIM! Stop this moment and call on HIM. HE will hear and heed our cry. I know. In recent days I've done just that..........and HE has provided the strength I needed to go on.

Here is the THOUGHT FOR THE DAY.........

God's Kingdom is not a place, but rather a relationship. It exists wherever people enthrone Jesus as Lord of their lives. J.I. Packer, Growing in Christ

Now to give you something to think about........This is a beautiful TRUE story sent in by Shannon.......by the way Shannon finds for us the most AWESOME stories!

Violinist in the Metro

You can read and SEE the entire story here:

http://tinyurl.com/29fm8s

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rus h hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went
through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman t hrew the money in the till and without stopping continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk turni ng his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats averaged $100.00 each.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington P ost as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the b est musicians in the world playing some of the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Do you see the similarity of this story to the way people pay attention to the Bible?

The Book is worth more than any book ever written in the history of the world, yet most people who own one (or more) seldom even open it.

The author is God Himself. He took about 1,600 years to compile it for us.

The wisdom/message contained in this Book can not only give it's reader's guidance and hope for this earthly life, but it tells one how to acquire eternal life with God Himself.

How foolish are we to spend time each day reading the newspapers or magazines or watching TV and yet neglect to spend time every day with our Creator in prayer and in reading His precious Book?

A man is no fool who gives what he can not keep to gain what he can not lose!

WOW!!! AWESOME!!!

Now here is what I love............God's people coming together in prayer! Another Church breaking down walls and inviting all to pray.........

Monday Morning Fresh Cup!!!! KKIM/DDC

Have you entered our "Weekend To Remember Contest"? Please check it out at www.mykkim.com We announce the winner Wed. at 4:30 on New Mexico News and Views. I interviewed by dear friend Doug Scarborough of Family Life last week about the conference. Many say this is the best marriage conference in history! If you can please attend. Please pray about this.

Let us now check out prayer list...........

Here is an update on our dear friend RuthAnn...........

Hello Everyone,

My family and I would like to thank you for all the hugs, notes and prayers you have sent our way, they have been received with grateful hearts.

We have received the news tonight from Mom?s (RuthAnn?s) lung biopsy Wednesday and it was not the news we were all praying for. It seems the right lower lobe of her lung has been classified with Bronchioloalveolar Carcinoma. (below is the definition)

We do know we can fight this and are preparing to do so 150%. We will overcome this.

Please keep the hope, love and prayers coming. I will keep you updated as much as I can.

Thanks and love,

Please keep RuthAnn and family in your prayers.

All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

KKIM's Frank Haley sent this to me........The impact of radio.............It says a lot about what KKIM is all about, serving people.........KKIM radio today........is like radio used to be.........It's all about CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT I was taught that at the start of my radio life! Media has failed big time on CONTENT

It was during the 1920 presidential election that one of America's first radio stations, KDKA, demonstrated why America wanted and needed radio.

This was the first time that election returns were announced live to an audience eager to hear them.

No longer did folks have to wait for the newspaper special edition to hit the street the next morning. Lucky listeners already knew Warren Harding had won the election, and that news had come to them, like magic, from the sky.

As reported in the book Hello, Everybody!: The Dawn of American Radio, the excitement triggered by KDKA's coverage set off a national mania.

On the morning of November 3, Westinghouse's switchboard was flooded with calls from people wanting to find out how they could get a radio.

To be sure, radio was the iPod of the 1920's. And, just as sure, HD radio is not the iPod of the 2000's.

I haven't written much about HD radio lately because, like the vast majority of America, I'm not particularly interested in it. After all, radio's challenges and opportunities run deep and long, and HD is neither challenge nor opportunity.

It's worth noting, however, that in our zeal to establish this new medium as one that matters, we have forgotten the lessons of our own industry's history.

What, after all, are the lessons of the mania sparked by KDKA on a cold winter's night in 1920? What was it that made radio worth wanting for those folks who had none?

Three things, I think:

1. Radio provided highly desirable content. Election results - Presidential election results - hours before the newspaper? That's attractive content.

2. Radio provided something that couldn't be gotten any other way. Unless someone who heard the broadcast called you to tell you about it, you would have to wait for the morning paper. And that call from a friend only served to sell you on the need to buy your own radio.

3. Radio was dramatically different from all other substitutes. In its earliest days, radio was indistinguishable from magic. What was the next closest medium? Recorded discs? The newspaper?

The fate of HD radio was sealed even before it was introduced.

It would never contain highly desirable content because such content comes at a price, and no rational broadcaster would stick such valuable content on radios that didn't exist yet in the marketplace, yet the lesson above clearly suggests that there is no demand without the valuable content to drive it.

Especially in this Internet-enabled age, HD provides nothing that couldn't be gotten in many other ways. More every day.

HD is dramatically similar to - not different from - all of those alternatives, and not necessarily better than any.

This may well be the last time I even comment on HD, so completely has my interest in it waned.

I'll leave you with this evergreen reminder: Technology is transitional. Content is forever.

Here is the latest from Pastor/Congressman Bill Redmond.........

Dear Friends in Christian Media,

Gay marriage may be law in New Mexico 9 days from today!

I want to thank you for all your hard work in getting the word out to Christians across our state. Attached are three documents:

1. The briefing presented to all 3 New Mexico Catholic bishops by Lt. Gov. Walter Bradley, this briefing was what got the bishops on board to help us defeat gay marriage;

2. "Proof Positive", a synopsis of the catastrophic damage this type of legislation HAS DONE ALREADY in other states. Pastors will be fined if they refuse to conduct same-sex marriages, Christian media will be required to carry gay programing;

3. Potential Hearing and Voting Schedule - this is the possible "best game" for the supporters of gay marriage (domestic partnership) we are aware of. This is our first line of defense schedule. Committee chairpersons may change the schedule at any time. Last year chairpersons kept postponing the hearings hoping the Christians would grow weary and go home.

As of today it looks like the bill will pass all 4 committee hearings with a recommended "Do Pass" as it goes to the floor.

We are 2 - 4 votes short of defeating the bill on the Senate Floor. It is highly unlikely we can stop it on the House Floor.

To defeat this bill we need phone calls and emails from Christians pouring into the Capitol by the thousands every day this week. We need pastors and their church members at the Capitol Tue. - Fri. packing out the committee rooms. Though we expect to loose in committee, the news of crowds will make its way to the Senate floor where we have a chance to defeat it.

My office will provide an event by event report to all Christian media outlets, hourly if necessary. This report will contain what has just happened and what action Christians need to take at each step in the process. We may plan to have a "crash the switchboard" hour. This was successful when used by the home school families when a bill was introduced to require all home school parents to have a degree in education in order to home school. We may use this tactic if necessary.

To ensure defeat of this evil legislation, as a Christian media outlet, please help with the following:

If any one has the contact for the Christian media outlets in Farmington or other locations in the state, please send me the info. If you have Christian friends in secular media that would run our material, please send me that info as well.

It is the Lord who provides the victory.

Bill Redmond

Here is a note from Shona Neff who you hear on KKIM Saturday mornings at 7:30...........

Dewey,

I sent the following letter to our NM state Representatives and Senators. Interesting thing, it bounced back from 22 or 23 of the Reps. Thankfully, nothing has been kicked back from any senator mailboxes. Thank you for all that you and KKIM are doing to get the word out about what is going on. I've been feeling a nudge for about the last two days to get into the book of Isaiah and finally relented last night about 9:00. Oh my, so many similarities about, not only the same-sex marriage issue in NM, but what our country is facing with the new administration. Yikes....I'm glad I'm on God's side and trying to be faithful to Him. Thankfully He desires our faithfulness and doesn't require success; I think Christians are going to be struggling to find success in the current political atmosphere, but we must never lose faith in our miracle making Lord...and that is what we must be loyal to.

Have a great weekend and, again, thanks to you and all the troops who are getting to SF and working that front line. I'll do what I can in back of the ranks and maybe we can make a miracle with God's help.

Shona

Dear New Mexico State Legislators:

I am contacting you regarding the expected vote for same-sex marriage. I realize some of you may be tempted to quit reading this email because you have already made up your mind, but I encourage you to continue reading because you were elected to represent the citizens of New Mexico of which I am one.

I am not for allowing same-sex marriage in our state. Although I am Christian, I realize that I cannot expect non-Christians to claim the views of a God they do not claim to follow. However, one does not have to be Christian to recognize the egregious effects same-sex marriage can have on or contribute to a society.

I realize some people may immediately label me a "homophobe" and, for those who are into labels, that's their prerogative. I will admit I do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle, but that isn't my cause. I support a strong society and strong societies are the result of strong families. Research based on fact, not the Bible, shows the damaging effects of homo-sexual marriage on families.

Because politicians are elected to represent the people, I encourage you to make an informed decision if this issue comes up for a vote. There are a lot of great sources you can use to educate yourselves on this issue, but I realize most legislators are tight on time. I've linked to two articles that show the state of marriage in Scandinavia and Norway due to the unintended effects of a society that doesn't protect the sanctity of marriage. Again, I realize there are those who have made up their minds to support this damaging issue, but I challenge you to step out of the cultural status quo and inform yourselves with fact.

Every one of you will leave a legacy for generations to come. Read these articles and decide what kind of legacy you want in New Mexico.

As the poem by James Russell Lowell reminds us, truth is on the scaffold and wrong is on the throne. As a society, we need to open our eyes, get informed, and score some points for Truth. If you made it all the way to this point in my email, I thank you. I hope you will explore the articles and support families. We are drowning out here and we don't need the water to be any deeper. All I ask is that you make an informed decision. Society isn't always going to agree, but we can all want the best for our children and our children's children and same-sex marriage isn't it...no matter your religious affiliation and/or gender. It's for the kids and they are worth sacrificing so they have a strong society to grow up in and raise their own families.

Sincerely,
Shona Neff

A FULL CUP OF URGENT INFO KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Welcome to Ruth Ann and Ken!!!! Glad to have you here at the CUP!!!! Please tell your friends about KKIM and the Cup....we would like many more to join us for a fresh cup.

How are you today? Thanks for stopping by! Pastor Leonard shared this with me.........

A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word "darkness" on the walls of his cell. -C.S. Lewis

Praying for you,
Leonard

Pastor Leonard has become a tremendous resource for us. We PRAISE GOD for him.

Today's posting is not about hate............It is about LOVE and COMNCERN for GOD's people.........Please do not just scan today's cup.........it is full of information you need to read and pass along to your Pastor and friends.....please

I come to you today with a heavy heart........I look around me and I am sadden by what I see as a push by a few to effect many. I am wore down.....many emails and phone calls on the same sex marriage issue. The Lord will give us strength to march on today!

Same sex marriage........if the vote was held today, it would pass the House and Senate. That is what State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones tells us. I scan the other media in the state and there is no mention of this bill.........nothing...........nothing in today's Journal.........nothing on KOB AM. KKIM is committed to bring you the TRUTH everyday. Please pray for us.

Except for KDSK Radio in Grants, Derek, the owner interviewed me about the bill. Thank God for broadcasters like Derek.

There is an email below asking why same sex marriage is not being voted on by the people of New Mexico. GOOD QUESTION!

To give you a straight answer it is because the power and abuse of a few........Gov. Richardson, a favorite of the Gay community, (he has received so much money from the Gay community and also got their Highest Honor of Service award last year) he is pushing this bill to be approved quickly.

The main stream media is silent on this issue. Many New Mexican's are not aware of the current status of this bill, as it roll's to approval.

God's people must not be silent........Many people have gathered together........to vote this down........would you join us? Here is our most current News story..........

Before that let's get to the Prayer needs...........

Please pray for our Web Master Jannetta. She has a health concern. Please keep her in your prayers. By the way Jannetta is building a web site for my dear friend Ken Coe at WLOI/WCOE in Laporte, In. If you would like her to build a web site for your business or Church, just send me an email.

Please pray for Dorothy Kimbro's sister, Doloris, as she is very ill. Please pray that Doloris will accept our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please pray for our son Lars friend Vincent, as he broke is arm last night coming out of Wal-Mart.

Dewey,

Quick update on my friend Gail. She has been running a fever of 99-103 since she left the hospital and can't eat. She is going back to the Doctor today. She is very down and weak. Please continue to keep her on your prayer list as her recovery is very slow.
Also have a friend who had open heart surgery and needs our prayers. Don Hunsucker. Dear friends as well.
Thank you for all your wonderful "Cups" in the mornings.
God Bless you and your family,
Nicole

Hi Dewey,

I would like to ask everyone to please keep my Sister-in-law Jeannine’s Mother-in-law, Linda Barreras, in your prayers. She was diagnosed very recently with breast cancer. She has asked us to pray for her and I would greatly ask you to please do the same for her. We all know the power and gift of our prayers, and I know she will deeply appreciate it.

She is very optimistic that she and her doctors can get this under control with medications and a special diet.

Thank you very much.

John Jelso

Please keep all these concern's in your prayers.

Now here is the latest from KKIM's Frank Haley.......

The word from the Merry Roundhouse in Santa Fe is that New Mexico will have same sex marriage within a week or two.

We could have same sex marriage ceremonies on the State Capitol steps on Valentines Day.!!!!

State Rep. Janice Arnold says the vote on HB 21 looks to be 48-22 in favor in the House and just 15 dissenting votes in the Senate.

Gov. Bill Richardson has made this a priority.

It will take prayer and action by God's people to prevent same sex marriage.

The best thing we can do now is swamp the switch board with phone calls and send emails.

The effort to defeat this bill involves many from the Evangelical/Protestant/Catholic Church. Please call your Pastor if he is not involved. Call your friends and make them aware.

The web site of the State Legislature is www.nmlegis.gov/lcs/ Send your email now.

The phone number to voice your thoughts to the State Legislature is 505-986-4300.

Your prayers, phone calls, and emails stopped same sex marriage bill last year......you
can do the same this year.

KKIM News will continue to stay on top of this story.

In Leviticus 18:22 God says, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a
female. It is an abomination."

Here's contact information for the committee that is hearing HB 21 now:

HB 21 (Domestic Partner Rights and Responsibilities) was introduced and has been sent to the Consumer & Public Affairs Committee. Please contact the Legislators listed below ASAP, telling them to vote NO on HB 21. The bill's language (identical to the CA statute) will result in same sex marriage through court action, as it did in CA.

Also with a heavy heart........I share with you this news..........

Long time Pastor Larry Moss of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church and talk show host here on KKIM has announced his retirement from the Church. Pastor Moss told KKIM that he will retire as Pastor on July 4th of this year.

Pastor Moss has been a tremendous leader in the state of New Mexico. Larry has been on KKIM for nearly 30 years.

When we asked him if he would continue his Radio Ministry on KKIM, Pastor Moss replied, "Don't know yet"

Please pray for our dear brother in the Lord, Pastor Larry Moss…

Larry has been a dear friend...........when I came to KKIM he helped Shepherd me along. His son Greg was a tremendous roll model for son Lars.

Now back the same sex marriage issue........

Here is a common question I get..............

What’s wrong with gay marriage? Didn’t God make them, too? Franchesca

I asked Pastor Leonard Navarre Of Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood, NM to address this for us.........

Dewey,

Concerning homosexual marriage:

God loves all people. He loves us so much that He sent His son, Jesus to die for us to take away our sins. However, as a loving Father, He has given us guidelines, spiritual principles and commandments to help us live as spiritually fulfilled as possible. He loves the murderer but doesn't approve of the murder. He loved King David in the Old Testament but pointed out the sin of adultery and murder in King David's life and David had to live with the consequences of his disobedience.

In Leviticus 18:22 God says, "you shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female. It is an abomination". Whenever God calls something an abomination, I should really pay attention. Now remember He loves us, but He is speaking to the behavior He that he detest. Also, in Romans:

Rom 1:18

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Rom 1:19

because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
Rom 1:20

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
Rom 1:21

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22

Professing to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23

and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Rom 1:24

Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
Rom 1:25

For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Rom 1:26

For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
Rom 1:27

and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
Rom 1:28

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
Rom 1:29

being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips,
Rom 1:30

slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31

without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful;
Rom 1:32

and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Key phrases: "suppressed the truth for a lie" and "worshipped and serve the creature rather than the creator".

Here again is the battle in our mind of whether we will obey God or man. God says that when we have sexual relations with the same sex it is an abomination and detestable in His sight. So whom will we obey. God or man? Our own desires? God commands us not to murder. Whom will we obey? God or our own angry desires to kill?

God loves us so much and wants us to be blessed in our lives that His guidelines, principles and commandments are for our good, both in body and spirit. There are acts and deeds that will move us away from enjoying His blessings in our lives. Romans 1:28 reminds us that since they didn't desire to worship God nor acknowledge Him as God that God released them to do whatever they desired to do. And they did and still do.

In my life God is desiring a close personal relationship with me, but sin and wickedness always blocks God's greatest blessings and joy in my life.

God loves each one of us but does give us commandments on how we should live to best glorify Him in our behavior. When we choose to disobey, as a loving Dad on earth, discipline is the result from our heavenly Father. So remember, the question is will we obey God or our selfish desires and man's encouragement.

I Corinthians 6:9-10 gives a list of those who will not inherit the kingdom of God AND unless they repent and change their behavior, along with others sinful behaviors, homosexuals are listed.

May we be willing to seek God's will for our lives through His Word, the Bible, rather than our own selfish and carnal desires of the flesh. Matthew 6:33 "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness."

God bless,

Leonard Navarre

Dewey,
why don't we get to vote on this? This never wins when put to the people.
I may have answered my own question.

Derek

Dewey,
a lady called in after you were on KDSK and asked if I was going to offer
an opposing view point. She is undecided. I told her that I would be happy
to talk with a homosexual if she knew one that wanted to call in.
She didn't. I should have suggested she tune in to Air America.
Get ready for the Fairness Doctrine.

Derek

Dear Dewey ~

In response to the report you sent from Congressman Bill Redmond...

You know, I was dismayed when I learned of this, then it occurred to me...
Those who live in darkness can compete against the children of light and win in every way except one.
They can inspire more candidates to run for office.
They can raise more funds to buy more advertising.
They can turn out more volunteers to get out the vote.
Any tactic we use they can match and even exceed!

But, THERE IS ONE WEAPON WE HAVE THAT IS COMPLETELY UNAVAILABLE TO THEM...

PRAYER

Our God is a warrior-god (Exodus 15:3) but He waits for us to step forward and call His divine power into the conflict.
He is eager to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him (2 Chronicles 16:9)
But He is waiting for us to do what it takes...

trust Him obey Him and pray

Will we pick up our swords and go to battle for the soul of our nation?
Will we fight and keep on fighting while it seems the tide of war is going against us?
Will we read the stories in Scriptures of the many times when for God's people it looked like the battle was lost,
until God entered the conflict and determined the outcome. Will we take courage from those stories and
keep on trusting Him, and obeying Him and praying to Him to show His power and decisively defeat the enemy?

If we are listening to Him and following Him, then the battles we are fighting will be His battles, not ours,
and for those battles, we have His absolute guarantee that

HE shall win the conflict!

(the message from this old hymn is sounding more contemporary every day!)

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

(Martin Luther 1529)

Just one more note........State Rep. Nora Espinoza was on KKIM's New Mexico News and Views yesterday talking about this event that attracted a crowd of nearly 3,000 people according to Nora......

Santa Fe, NM) – Rep. Nora Espinoza (R-Chaves, Lincoln and Otero-59) attended a National Right to Life rally Thursday at the State Capitol from 1-3pm. Similar rallies were held across the nation to encourage elected officials to end abortion.

“Ending abortion in this country is a very important issue to me and I am honored to be a part of today’s rally,” remarked Rep. Espinoza. “I encourage every person who believes in family values and ending abortion to attend the rally as well as contact their legislator and tell them to vote for pro-family values legislation.”

This event was also ignored by the main stream media........So how important are stations like KKIM?

By the way Dr. Deb will be with us on New Mexico News and Views today at 4:30 talking about the same sex marriage issue.........Here is Dr. Deb to update us on her program this Saturday............

A leap to the window to look at the sight…

The ground fully covered and the trees coated with snow.

The surprise and quickness gives no time for thought...

The beauty and light from a new fallen snow… takes my breath away…

God soars in my soul!

God’s spirit in me compares to the two.

Childhood innocence and purity in my heart…

And the sight of peace and joy radiates from within my soul.

Like wings of a dove, so gentle and calm…God lifts me up in HIS loving arms.

I praise God from deep within -- so thankful for the beauty that only HE can send.

My mind can’t help to wander how much more HE has in store!

Too much to keep in --- God sends peace and joy in overflow

That’s why I share just to Praise HIM so!

My wandering eye runs to see it is still snowing…

And then this sight captures me…

I have 4 horses and they are a blessing to me.

I see them experiencing the same as me.

In unity, they play --- no scores to be kept

They run in a gallop to see if the others keep up.

There’s not sight greater to me than to see the mighty power in a horse run so gracefully!

There is no greater sound in the world than to hear the thunder in rhythm of their hooves meet the ground.

Gracefully and playfully I see them play

As if they celebrate the same as me…something so special is in the air…

They run with such freedom, power and grace!

My heart soars all the way to God as I cherish this moment for what it is.

I thank God dearly for all that HE does!

My heart is full of peace and joy as I receive the snow as a blessing…

I see this snow… in the beauty that God gives….

No other comparison that I can give…

I share only to encourage another to seek to receive God’s awesome gift!

God’s love is light and easy to care HE falls gently over us with power

He covers us fully with beauty beyond compare…

HIS peace and joy do not melt like the snow in the frigid air

He gives us hope and washes our sin…

Newness to our life comes by HIS hand.

The beauty in this day and in my heart with no end.

I wonder if God made the snow …

Just to shake things up …

HE must have known --- of coarse HE did!

Tranquility HE gives --- no book can share…

Just look out the window and see the birds with no care!

Our God can be seen if we look for HIS hand ...

He sits a bird on the branch by HIS loving hand

He made them, colored them and gave them their wing to fly…

With majesty HE created...

... and by HIS grace they sit on a branch for us to see.

God made the branch for you and me and decorated it with birds for the world to see!

Just when the scenery almost got old…

God made it snow and made it all new and bold!

God Bless you in this day that the LORD has made!

Have you received Jesus today? His blood is stronger than the snow…it covers all sin and makes you new again! The next time you clean your boots in the snow…think of how much more Christ’s blood can do for you!

Love in Christ,

He Loves to Be with the Ones He Loves
by Max Lucado

Holiday travel. It isn't easy. Then why do we do it? Why cram the trunks and endure the airports? You know the answer. We love to be with the ones we love.

The four-year-old running up the sidewalk into the arms of Grandpa.

The cup of coffee with Mom before the rest of the house awakes.

That moment when, for a moment, everyone is quiet as we hold hands around the table and thank God for family and friends and pumpkin pie.

We love to be with the ones we love.

May I remind you? So does God. He loves to be with the ones he loves. How else do you explain what he did? Between him and us there was a distance--a great span. And he couldn't bear it. He couldn't stand it. So he did something about it.

Before coming to the earth, "Christ himself was like God in every-thing.... But he gave up his place with God and made himself nothing. He was born to be a man and became like a servant" (Phil. 2:6--7 NCV).

Why? Why did Jesus travel so far?

I was asking myself that question when I spotted the squirrels outside my window. A family of black-tailed squirrels has made its home amid the roots of the tree north of my office. We've been neighbors for three years now. They watch me peck the keyboard. I watch them store their nuts and climb the trunk. We're mutually amused. I could watch them all day. Sometimes I do.

But I've never considered becoming one of them. The squirrel world holds no appeal to me. Who wants to sleep next to a hairy rodent with beady eyes? (No comments from you wives who feel you already do.) Give up the Rocky Mountains, bass fishing, weddings, and laughter for a hole in the ground and a diet of dirty nuts? Count me out.

But count Jesus in. What a world he left. Our classiest mansion would be a tree trunk to him. Earth's finest cuisine would be walnuts on heaven's table. And the idea of becoming a squirrel with claws and tiny teeth and a furry tail? It's nothing compared to God becoming a one-celled embryo and entering the womb of Mary.

But he did. The God of the universe kicked against the wall of a womb, was born into the poverty of a peasant, and spent his first night in the feed trough of a cow. "The Word became flesh and lived among us" (John 1:14 NRSV). The God of the universe left the glory of heaven and moved into the neighborhood. Our neighborhood! Who could have imagined he would do such a thing.

Thanks for stopping by today..........keep us in your prayers.........We love you all,

Dewey Sharon and family

KKIM NEWS ALERT SAME SEX MARRIAGE

KKIM NEWS ALERT

As it stands now at the Roundhouse New Mexico will have same sex marriage within a week or two.

We could have same sex marriage ceremonies on the State Capitol steps on Valentines Day.

I was on the phone tonight with State Rep. Janice E. Arnold Jones who was with State Rep. Tom Anderson and they both conceded that it looks bleak.

Janice said the vote on HB 21 looks to be 48-22 in favor in the House and just 15 dissenting votes in the Senate.

Gov. Bill Richardson has made this a priority.

It will take prayer and action by God's people to prevent same sex marriage. Are God's people up to it?

Janice said the best thing we can do now is swamp the switch board with phone calls and send emails.

As Pastor Don Kimbro of Heights Christian Church and Dr. Larry Bates told me tonight we defeated it last year, we can do it again.

Your prayers, phone calls, and emails stopped same sex marriage last year......we can do the same this year.

KKIM News will continue to stay on top of this story.

In Leviticus 18:22 God says, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female. It is an abomination."

God put this on my heart Cup KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

When God speaks.........I must pray and act..........HE told me to share this with you today.........

My Dear friends..........

Please pray over these words..........

God has spoken..........God has taken action............

It's all to easy to imagine that what God has said and done is all in the past and leave it at that. ( I get that a lot...oh the Bible that happened a long time ago......this is 2009.....the Bible is not in tuned with today ....it's in the past.........You cannot believe all that can you?) But it needs to come out of history into experience, out of the Bible into life.
God has spoken--------but have we listened to HIS word?

GOD has acted------but have we benefited from what HE has done?

We must seek HIM

We must seek seriously.

We must have a personal relationship with HIM.

Jesus promised: "Seek and you will find."

But, as the great American writer Emerson put it........"Man is lazy as he dares to be"

How about you and me?

In Christ's Love, Dewey Sharon and family

www.deweysdailycup.com

www.mykkim.com

A lot of today's writing is from John Scott's book "Basic Christianity"

Remember my friends, When you hear God speaking to you.........listen and pray....take action........

The Holy Spirit is HIS messenger..........it is so wonderful to experience that!!!!

If you would like to talk about this just email me!

Max Lucado Prayer Meeting on Web KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Hope you heard our program this afternoon and our tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King. Pastor Mark Tross joined us. Please join Max Lucado tomorrow (Tuesday) morning for a special prayer meeting on the web!
Words of wisdom from Max............

Bestselling author and Pastor Max Lucado is urging Americans to pray for President-elect Obama on Tuesday as he takes the oath of office. In an open letter on his Website, Lucado, described as "America's Pastor" by "Christianity Today" magazine said, quote, "I am a pastor, not a politician, so I can only speculate as to what awaits President-elect Barack Obama. The long-lasting benefits of good choices…the fearful consequences of poor ones…complicated social issues and relentless international problems." Lucado said, "He needs our prayers. And it's our privilege to pray for him. The Bible says: 'Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God.'" A prayer guide is available on Lucado's website as well as information about a live prayer event Webcast scheduled for tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. Central Standard Time. Quick Cup with Dewey KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Just a quick note here on this day of History in our Country!

Being from a small town in Minnesota, Windom, I grew up around grain elevators. On my recent trip to Indiana as I drove down the highways I was looking for grain elevators. Many have disappeared over the years. There is just something "safe" about seeing grain elevators, they bring back memories of maybe a simpler life.......they remind me of my Grandpa Caraway and all the fun we had on the farm.
Anyhow there is a Montana couple, yes I worked in Sidney, Montana and loved seeing all the grain elevators across the lovely landscape of Big Sky Country as I traveled to do ballgames! This Montana couple are featured in this weeks edition of American Profile. They take pictures of grain elevators.........great story and pictures......as they capture rural America.......go to www.americanprofile.com and have a cup of coffee and enjoy a taste of history! Rural America is the back bone of this great country.

You know I love books.....Sharon got me another one.........John W. Scott's "Basic Christianity"........Pastor Rick Warren calls it a landmark book........a must read......

Here is what I would like to share with you today from the book..........

We never take God by surprise. We can never anticipate HIM. HE always makes the first move. HE is always there "in the beginning." Before we existed, God took action. Before we decided to look for God, God had already been looking for us. The Bible isn't about people trying to discover God but about God reaching out to find us.

May you read HIS word today, Dewey Sharon and family

KKIM NEWS ALERT

Dear KKIM Family,

As the New Mexico Legislative session open today...........Congressman/Pastor Bill Redmond has this report..........

Dear Fel low Pastor,

IT IS NOW OR NEVER!

· Gay marriage was defeated by one vote in the State Senate in 2007 and by one vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2008.

· FIVE pro-Biblical marriage New Mexico senators were defeated with out-of-state money from=2 0national homosexual and lesbian groups this past November. The soul of New Mexico was up for sale.

· THERE ARE FIVE NEW PRO-HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE SENATORS IN OUR NEW MEXICO SENATE.

· If homosexual marriage passes for New Mexico, IT IS IRREVERSIBLE! New Mexico is not a referendum state like California. You and your church members will never have an opportunity to vote on this at the polls. WE MUST DEFEAT IT NOW!

· The proponents of gay marriage are both confident and arrogant with regard to the bill’s passage.

To defeat this bill we need 195 pastors willing to testify when this bill comes up in committee. As of the writing of this letter only 39 pastors have committed to testify. The New Mexico Conference of Catholic Bishops is standing with us to defeat gay marriage. Every day at the Legislature we will have 3 Evangelical/Protestant pastors and 1 Catholic priest along with members from their churches prepared to testify. The session runs from January 20, 2009 to March 21, 2009. Please call (800) 459-3877 to schedule a day at the legislature.

Preparation materials for testimony are provided by Dr. James Dobson’s Family Research Council and can be obtained at www.issuesa ndvalues.com under the resource section.

Please know that proponents of anti-Christian legislation are well funded and well organized. (Please see http://www.nmwatchman.com.) They have always vastly outnumbered those addressing their issues from a Christian perspective. Without a concerted effort, the New Mexico Legislature will easily pass their legislative agenda.

Finally, the most important aspect of our effort is prayer. Please pray for the New Mexico State Legislature and please join us in sharing the Lord’s grace in the New Mexico State Capitol.

As a fellow pastor, I plead with you, come to the legislature, to speak the truth in love and defeat this evil legislation. We will never have a second opportunity if this passes. This cannot happen on our watch as pastors.

In the name of Jesus,

Congressman Bill Redmond, MDiv.

HOOSIER CUP WITH DEWEY KKIM/DDC

Good Day My Good Friends,

I am finding out it is not always morning when some of you read this.............like is Africa! So Good Day to all!

I prayed for safe travel and a good visits with good friends........I also read this from Chuck Swindoll on my trip.........

Trust him whole-heartedly, in every corner of your life, recognizing that HE is the One in charge.

Now comes the after part. HIS part. "HE will make your path straight." The word means "smooth," "straight," or "even." In other words, HE will smooth out your path. He'll take care of each of those obstacles on the trial ahead of you.

Another proverb, later on in that book, reads like a kissing cousin to Proverbs 3:5-6. Solomon writes, "When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him" Proverbs 16:7

Another great promise!!!! When your path is smooth as a result of your walking in obedience, HE will make your enemies to be at peace with you.

WOW!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!

The Lord plowed through snow, ice, and 45 below temps to give me safe travel..........

Got in last night from Indiana........45 below zero when I reached South Bend and then drove in stormy weather to LaPorte.

It was a HUGE blessing to see Ken and DeEtta Coe(WLOI/WCOE Radio)and speak at Ken's retirement dinner. I had not been back in Laporte for years.........but it was just like yesterday picking up where we left off with old friends........Crash Miller, Charlie and Lavella Hickman, Marie Landis, Tom Kessler, Norma Sabie and many more............

Ken was shocked to see me as DeEtta did not tell him I was coming.......both DeEtta and Ken did not recognize me..I told them it was my Col. Sanders look!

What was really neat was picking up with old friends like we never had been separated by miles!
I have to say Ken and I used to laugh so much when working together.........we had so much fun! Ken and DeEtta were a blast to work for.

I praise God for all those who have been my boss.........and all those who I have worked for and with........in my nearly 35 years in this biz!!!! I PRAISE GOD for all my friendships all over the WORLD!!!!!

It was so interesting that when I was flying out to Indiana, my other old boss, Ed Moore and Jan from Indiana were in Nevada at a conference and were going to come see me and Sharon when they got done..........but........

as it says in James 4:14..........

whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Dewey,

We don’t order our future or our vacations. Friday morning Jan’s mother unexpentantly moved her residency to heaven after 10 years of sickness. We quickly changed our schedule and arrived home Saturday noon. We had looked forward to spending a day or two with an old friend. You came to my neighborhood with -19 degrees and I to Nevada with 65 and sun. Let’s try again in the not too distant future.

Ed

Jan is Ed's wife and my old bosses at WFRN Radio in South Bend/Elkhart, Indiana www.wfrn.com jan's mother's name is Millie........Please keep the family in your prayers. The Moore family is rejoicing that Millie went home to be with the Lord she was 89.

Got an email this morning from Chris Squires who manages the Christian station in Bakersfield, California for the parent company that owns both.........American General Media........he sent me to this scripture..........

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

AMEN!!!!

In honor Of Dr. Martin Luther King day we bring you this..............

This from NiK............

All Things New

One of the greatest needs in our lives is the need for restoration. To restore means, "to bring something back into existence or effect again; to bring back to a former or original condition; to put back in a former place or position; to reinstate; to return." We talk about restoring relationships, renovating antique furniture, reinstating a political leader and returning something that was stolen or lost. These all demonstrate the idea of restoration. The essential meaning of salvation is restoration. To be saved means that we have experienced the miraculous restoring power of God to make all things new in our lives spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, and relationally.

From Genesis to Revelation, we see the God of restoration. We hear God's message to the nation of Judah: "I will restore your judges as in days of old, your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City" (Isa 1:26).

The Psalmist prayed, "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me" (Ps 51:12). God promises, "I will restore you to health and heal your wounds" (Jer 30:17a). Paul the Apostle declares, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are new" (2 Cor 5:17).

When the Apostle John received the Revelation on the Isle of Patmos concerning the restoration of all things and the beauty of the new heaven and the new earth, he says, "And he that sat upon the throne said, 'Behold, I make all things new'" (Rev 21:5). As you surrender your failures, problems and challenges to your Heavenly Father in faithful prayer, He will make all things new for you.

I missed Sharon, the kids and the dogs when I was gone and I am thankful to be at home! If the Lord will's I will be going to the NRB convention next month www.nrb.com

Special thanks to Richard Spray, Pastor's Don and Leonard for filling in for me!

We will be praying.

Ed Moore WFRN Radio

Dewey,
I just want to thank you personally for contacting Rodney Washington and his wife during their time of need. That contact obviously had a profound impact. I personally vouch for the Washington family and Gary (brother) as to their genuine love for Christ. God blessed me beyond measure when I I had the distinctive pleasure to coach these individuals in high school wrestling in Louisiana in the early 80's. My heart bleeds so hard for them. I just want you to know what wonderful people they are and how much they mean to me. Again, Dewey thank you for your message and what you as a person mean to so many.
God Bless
Rick Griffin (Coach) Albuquerque

I am praying for you.

Scripture for the day:

"Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16

Draw near WITH CONFIDENCE and receive MERCY, GRACE in time to NEED.

Have a super day. I am praying for you and Sharon.

In Christ love and service,

I Just got an IM...I guess that is Instant message.......I remember Instant coffee.........now we have IM????
Anyhow it was from our dear friend Karen in Elkhart, Indiana.her husband Fred is having surgery this morning. Please keep him in your prayers. He is having his gallbladder removed.

Here is an update from John Jelso, we are very thankful when folks keep us updated on people we are praying for..........

Good Morning Dewey.

I just wanted to give you a little update on my Sister, Gina Heise . Gina was released from the hospital last Thursday and has been home recovering. My other Sister, Laura Smith, arrived from Michigan Friday afternoon to help out for a week or two. This will greatly ease the burden on my Mother, Joanne Jelso, and allow her some time to rest and recoup, as well. Gina is still in pain. But, she knows things will improve and the pain will subside. Gina is ready to work on her recovery. She knows how important it is that she follows doctor orders and that physical therapy is the key. Gina is very aware of all the prayers and extends her gratitude to all who have prayed for her and I do as well. I think we all know how powerful prayer is, especially when it comes to our prayers for others.

Thanks again to you and the readers of “Dewey’s Daily Cup”.

Your old friend,

John Jelso Albuquerque

Rick Griffin a great friend of this ministry sent this in............
Here are some great points, thought you might enjoy them

Rick Griffin

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a
glass of water and asked, "how heavy is this glass of water?" Answers
called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, "The absolute
weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it."

"If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an
hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll
have to call an ambulance. "In each case, it's the same weight, but the
longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we
carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes
increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on." "As with the glass of
water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it
again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't
carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're
carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can." "Relax; pick them
up later after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy it!

And then he shared some ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.

* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

* Never buy a car you can't push.

* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.

* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

* The second mouse gets the cheese.

* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world
to one person.

* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

* We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty
and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors,
but they all have to live in the same box.*********THIS ONE IS TRULY
WONDERFUL*******

* A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you
today..........I will

Shannon who works with me at American General Media was talking about the sermon that John Phillis did on Sunday (Church of Christ)..........about the meaning of "Broadcast" Of course being in the Broadcast biz.......that caught my attention when Shannon was talking about it. So she asked John to share with us..........

Hi Dewey,

John Phillis sent me the part of his notes I had talked to you about. I found it interesting and hope you do too! If you would like me to get a recorded cd of the sermon, just let me know!

Shannon

The word used in this parable, in all three accounts (Mt. 13, Mk. 4 and Lk. 8), as well as in a few other parables Jesus spoke, is the Greek word, 'speiro' translated "to sow" or "sow seed." There is another word used in the NT in a similar sense, 'diaskorpizo' which means "to scatter". From this verb comes the word 'Diaspora' used for the "scattering of the Jews" (OT) and "scattering of the Christians" (NT) -- remember that Peter addressed his first epistle to the "elect who are sojourners of the Dispersion [Diaspora]" (ASV). But in Mt. 25:24 & 26, 'diaskorpiza' is used in an agricultural context; the one talent man accused his master of reaping where he had not "scattered."

Anyway, I said all of that to say that one of the definitions of "broadcast" (verb) is: "to cast or scatter abroad over an area, as seed in sowing."

Then, note this description of the activity of a 1st century "farmer" or "sower of seed" - "This parable of the sower is a vivid picture of a farmer, sowing wheat from a bag strapped over his shoulder, scattering seed by thrusting his hand into the bag and hurling the seeds in an arc, somewhat in front of him, as he walked through the field."

Pretty easy to see the connection then to "scattering" or "broadcasting" the seed, don't you think? And of course, in the parable it is figurative of "scattering" or "broadcasting" the word of God (Mt. 13:19).

Well that was fun. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. ;-) As for the sermon itself, I'm not sure Dewey could make much out of my notes, but of course it was recorded and audio copies are available.

Blessings,
John

Shannon, thanks for sharing.......please let John know that I would love to air his sermon on KKIM! We here at KKIM will work hard to put out good seed!

He has morphed again, from unemployed veteran to record-setting starting quarterback with the Cardinals, who on Saturday in Charlotte, N.C., will try to advance to the NFC Championship Game by beating the Carolina Panthers.
