Life and Death Cup...don't be scared! KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Good Morning My Friends!!

May the Peace and Strength of our Lord be with you and yours.

How serious are you about your sins? Notice the strength of language here in James..........

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you. James 4:8-10

This is the happiness that Jesus is driving at: He is offering peace and comfort of complete forgiveness plus an endless life in the presence of God!

This so much fit's in with the following.........

We had the most amazing testimony on NM News and Views last night from Albuquerque Businessman and KKIM Ministry Sponsor Ben Lucero. Ben has his own show on KKIM, Fridays at 3:30.

Anyhow......he shared how he was driving 75 miles an hour on I-25 and a rear tire blew on his car and it flipped over several times..just crushing the car!!!

Going almost into the other side of the interstate and into oncoming traffic.

As the car was crashing he had peace!!! He held onto the steering wheel and just kept saying Jesus, God, Jesus, God..........

And he saw a Bubble , as Ben describes it..a Bubble of peace..........and he knew he had not lost at this point in his life......he was in a win, win situation......if he died he would see our Father, if he lived he would continue to serve the Lord here on earth....but he would win either way!!!

WOW! What a point to be at in your life...facing death, but knowing you win either way!!!

When the car finally stopped rolling over............Ben felt peace.........a man came running up to the car.........the man said to Ben are you okay?........Ben said he was fine, then he thought maybe he had a broken back or neck and didn't just feel it........but no...... he was okay and un strapped himself from the seat belt, and got out and the observer could not believe it, he said, "Your lucky!" Ben said, "No I am blessed."

Then the Police and rescue folks arrived and said the same thing to Ben in disbelief that anyone could have survived the wreck as they looked at the Ford Ranger that was completely destroyed.....

The Police and rescue workers told Ben that he was lucky!

Ben said, "No, I am blessed."

Later that day Ben and his wife went to the Towing Place where the Car had been hauled to and Ben said to the guy at the Counter, "Have you had a wrecked Ford Ranger towed here today?"

The Guy said, "yea.......look at that.....as he pointed to a picture of the destroyed car.......he said, "they tell me the guy walked away from the wreck!"

Ben said, "I am that guy."

and the Worker said, "You are Blessed Brother!"

Just in a flash Ben was in a life and death situation.........it was not something he planned to do.........

Just picture in your mind being in a car that is flipping over and crashing.........and you are holding onto the steering wheel and saying Jesus, God, Jesus, God.....knowing that you win either way.........AMEN!

If you were put in a life and death situation today.....just moments from now...........would you have the peace Ben had and has? Knowing that you win either way?

We just never know who the Lord is going to put on NM News and Views everyday.......we leave it open for HIS WILL....we just never know.......It is the Lord's airwaves.......Man can have things planned out to much........no room for God

We have this prayer need for little Brooke.........Frank Haley's granddaughter.....

Brooke was doing better but now has had a setback.......

Her lungs are full of gunk again.......

The ventilator is doing all the work for her at this point.....

They have had to sedate her so she can rest......

Please keep Brooke in your prayers and also Frank and Alice and of course Lydia, Brooke's Mother.

All need rest.......

Don't know if this link is working but.........

Frank has shares this with us before.......this is TRUE........how Amazing!

Shared by an anonymous doctor (be sure and open the attachment to see the picture)

A couple of days ago I was running (I use that term very loosely) on my treadmill, watching a DVD sermon by Louie Giglio... And I was BLOWN AWAY! I want to share what I learned... But I fear not being able to convey it as well as I want. I will share anyway.

He (Louie) was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is... How He spoke the universe into being.... Then He went on to speak of how this universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. At this point I am LOVING it (fascinating from a medical standpoint, you know.)... And I was remembering how I was constantly amazed during medical school as I learned more and more about God's handiwork. I remember so many times thinking.. 'How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???'

Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart..how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.

And then I lost my breath. And it wasn't because I was running my treadmill, either!!! It was because he started talking about laminin. I knew about laminin. Here is how Wikipedia describes them: 'Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue.' You see... Laminins are what hold us together.. LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell. Without them, we would literally fall apart. And I knew all this already. But what I didn't know is what they LOOKED LIKE.

But now I do. And I have thought about it a thousand times since (already).. Here is what the structure of laminin looks like... AND THIS IS NOT a 'Christian portrayal' of it... If you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see...

cid:006a01ca8958$dadeead0$05FC9ED7@OwnerPC

Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!! Amazing. The glue that holds us together..... ALL of us.... Is in the shape of the cross. Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind.

'He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible And invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in Him all things HOLD TOGETHER. ' (Colossians 1:15-17)

Call me crazy. I just think that is very, very, very cool. Thousands of years before the world knew anything about laminin, Paul penned those words. And now we see that from a very LITERAL standpoint, we are held together... One cell to another... By the cross. You would never in a quadrillion years convince me that is anything Other than the mark of a Creator who knew EXACTLY what laminin 'glue' would look like long before Adam breathed his first breath!!

What an amazing God !!!!!!!1

KEEP YOUR FORK CUP!! KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM family,

In this Cup: A great, great heart warming story that Shauna sent us on KEEP YOUR FORK!

Clyde is thankful for the CUP! Matthew 5 style:

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.

Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

Matt: 5: 1-2

So wonderful to hear from you Clyde! Love having a Cup with you everyday, or almost everyday!

I want to thank Pastor Steve Somtherman and Pastor Derek Smith of Legacy Church for being with me yesterday on The Radio version of Dewey's Daily Cup and New Mexico News and Views. They have dissected about 300 pages of the Same Sex marriage bill(This yrs bill is over 800 pgs, last yrs bill just 11 pages!) and they were able to relay many of the awful things in this bill. You can hear a major portion of this interview again at 5:05pm Saturday, 6:15am and 5:20pm Sunday.

The Domestic Partnership bill is a Same Sex marriage Bill, don't be fooled!

I give Praise and Thanks to the Lord for people like Pastor Steve and Derek! I give Praise and Thanks to the Lord for KKIM and the CUP, where we can give out solid Biblical information.....more than a 30 sec sound bite.

Where else are you going to hear the info that was put out yesterday?

Dissecting of this bill??? This unGodly bill!!!

Please keep KKIM and the CUP in your prayers as we go forth in the Truth of Jesus Christ!

By the way go to www.mykkim.com for info on how you can help defeat this unGodly bill.

I got a Tweet from Pastor Leonard that he is back home safely from India! PRAISE GOD!

Please keep Sharon and I and the kids in your prayers.

From Oswald Chambers.........

The Bible not only explains God, it explains the world in which we live in; it explains not only things that are right, but things that are wrong. If we can start out with the idea that everything is going well and all is bright and happy and then there is an earthquake, or someone is killed by lightning, or there are tremendous floods, or a shocking murder, or worse crime, the idea with which we started out will be flatly contradicted by the world outside, that is, by the facts we see and know. The Bible and the outside world agree, but both the Bible and the outside world are an absolute puzzle to us until we receive the Spirit of God.

Here is a wonderful story for us all today from Shauna...very heart warming.......encouraging........

Young woman and her fork

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things 'in order,' she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes.

She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.
Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. 'There's one more thing,' she said excitedly.
'What's that?' came the Pastor's reply.
'This is very important,' the young woman continued. 'I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.'

The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.

'That surprises you, doesn't it?' the young woman asked.

'Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request,' said the Pastor.

The young woman explained. 'My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement. In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork.' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!'

So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder 'What's with the fork?' Then I want you to tell them: 'Keep your fork ..the best is yet to come.'

The Pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, 'What's with the fork?' And over and over he smiled.

During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either.

He was right. So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that the best is yet to come. Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. Cherish the time you have, and the memories you share.

Being friends with someone is not an opportunity but a sweet responsibility.

Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND even if it means sending back to the person who sent it to you......

Oh, and keep your fork.

Thank you so much Shauna for sharing..God Bless you!

Let's go to the mailbag..........
Hi Dewey,

Thanks for the Cup today,

There are many mornings that we drink together.

Blessings (Matt 5 style),

Clyde Moore

Dearest Dewey and Family,
I was so blessed this morning by the 'Cup. I needed to hear those words. Yes, Hear. Even though they are written words, they are 'Alive. And seep into your soul. Only Gods Children has that ability to write 'His words and have them touch you so.

Dewey, Please remember me in your prayers. This wet weather we have had is taking its toll. I can't even lift a gallon of milk, or it brings on Agony on my neck. I can't even put on my socks. I keep thinking it will get better, with the weather, but looks like I will have to go in for more shots in my neck. Pain really brings you to your knees. I've heard it is a disease all of its own. And I believe that. It can control your life, when its all you feel. BBBUT.... God Knows! God Cares! and God is With Me through it all, so what else can I ask for. Other than for His Children to remember me in Prayer.
You spoke of losing people sometime when you are on fire for the Lord. They can't take it apparently. Do Not Worry Dewey, they have heard YOU. They will not forget No matter how hard they try. The Word sticks like glue. And always returns when we need it most.
Dewey, Sharon was given to you. Listen when she says you are spreading yourself too thin. Slow down a bit, and you will be rewarded. Some times we all need someone to intervein when we are 'over doing. I can hear you now, "How can we over do for the Lord"?. Well, sometimes we just need to sit still and listen. Sharon is the one that sees you all the time, and for your GOOD, she is the one God has assigned to tell you "its time to sit still and meditate on His Goodness"..:) We all love you and cherish you and want you to stay healthy!! sincerely, sam
Thanks for the kind words, Clyde and Sam!

Let us pray.............

Lord we thank you for all those that share your Word, Pastor Steve, Pastor Derek, Shauna, Clyde, Sam, Pastor Leonard.......in the name of Jesus, AMEN!

May we all DECLARE our belief in the Lord

God promises: "I will instruct you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye." (Ps. 32:8) Trust Him, Heed Him. You are not alone

That Scripture was tweeted by Max Lucado today.....Sharon and I are certainly doing that everyday......as we seek the Lord's Will in our life and look to HIM for the guidance in everyday matters.

A couple of notes...........

Sharon made my airline reservation for the National Religious Broadcasters Conference in Nashville for the end of Feb and start of March! PRAISE GOD! I will be working with Dr. Larry Bates and staff of the IRN/USA Radio Network while I am there. Dr. Bates and family are so kind to me.

Coach Phil, When do we start softball practice? Hey, you gotta love it that the Twins got Jim Thome a future Hall of Famer who did it the Clean way!

Just a reminder got to www.mykkim.com for info on all Legislation that will effect the Christian way of life in New Mexico. Check out our special postings and our news and information posts.

Everyday on KKIM we attempt to keep you informed of issues that effect the Christian way of life.

Someone sent this into Frank Haley after they learned about Brooke being sick.......

“When you understand that life is a test, you realize that nothing is insignificant to your life. Even the smallest incident has significance for your character. Every day is an important day, and every second is a growth opportunity to develop character, to demonstrate love, or to depend on God. Some tests seem enormous and overwhelming while others you don't even notice. But all of them have eternal implications.”

Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

Brooke is doing better....still in ICU......Please keep praying

I love that quote above at the start of the Cup by Tozer, we must DECLARE the Gospel!
Did you see Brit Hume's Declaration of his faith? WOW! and boy is he taking the hits for it! No surprise, at times when I really get going and declare the Goodness off God I lose a couple people.......from time to time.

Britt Hume is with Fox News, if you didn't already know,Let us p[ray and he had this message........

"My message to Tiger Woods would be, Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."

Hume added that Wood's professed Buddhism "doesn't offer the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith."

Brit then was attacked by the media for his comments.

Brit was just doing what we are all called to do.........Declare the Goodness of Jesus Christ. Be Bold in Christ!

Lord Willing later this week we will be sharing about this.........

If we really want to help someone flourish, we have to help them in a way that fits their uniqueness.

That is what we will plan to share next time we meet at the CUP!

Let us pray..........

Jesus prayed........"Father, may they be one with you." May we remember Lord, that our main measure of devotion to You is not our devotional life, but the life we live for You. In Jesus name, AMEN!

In the Love of Christ, Dewey Sharon and family

URGENT PRAYER NEED INDIA

Dear KKIM Family,

Pastor Leonard Navarre is in India and he just sent us this urgent email from his Brothers in India.......

Dear Leonard,

Greetings to you from Central India Christian Mission.

This is a prayer request to pray for our Preacher Bro. Ashawan and 35 seekers from Hathpura village of the Shahdol area in central India.

Two days ago on January 23, the church in Shahdol was having a gathering and Bible study / prayer meeting. Our son-in-law Josh went to take part in that. However, we received a phone call from our preacher informing us that the police and members of an extremist group called Bajrangdal had come to the church and accused us of forceful conversion. He also suggested it would be best for Josh not to come. Josh was about to reach the church and already had reached the town. We were able to stop him in order to avoid the complications for the church family and himself. Later the police took the 35 seekers from the village and forced them to sign a document saying that they were under a forceful situation to accept Christ. They also took our preacher Bro. Ashawan to the police station and he stayed there almost 18 hours.

Bro. Ashawan has not been arrested, but he is under search. We are doing our best to find a solution. I am keeping in touch with Bro. Ashawan and the church leaders on a regular basis. A couple of my friends in the government are trying to help us resolve this issue. Please do pray for the solution.

We will be grateful to you for your prayers at this time for the Shahdol and Hathpura churches, and for Bro. Ashawan, the seekers and new believers. I will keep you informed about the situation. Thank you so much for your love, prayers, concern and partnership with our lives and Central India Christian Mission.

Your Coworkers in India,

Ajai and Indu Lall

God's favor and Bondservant CUP KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ

Please keep praying for Brooke, Frank Haley's granddaughter.....We will update you as we hear.

Pastor Leonard Navarre is scheduled to fly out of India tomorrow........please pray

Sharon and I have important meetings this week and maybe into next week......please pray for us.

Yesterday was Sanctity of Life Sunday........Over 50 million babies have been aborted in the US since Roe vs. Wade.......Just think of that! God will not heal our land until abortion is stopped! Imagine how many leaders...teachers.........Presidents........for our Country that God had planned in his book of life.......and then we, the US, aborted them!

What would have happened to all that God had for you to do, and all those you have touched, your family, your friends, your Church, if you had been aborted?

It was great to see Kitty at our Church yesterday! She brightened our day!

Kitty why don't we give away some of that chocolate leading up to Valentines Day on my show?

Doubt wonders, "Have I done enough to go to heaven?" Grace answers, "No, you haven't. But Jesus has on your behalf." Max Lucado

Sometimes our candle goes out, but is blown into flame by an encounter with another human being.~Albert Schweitzer

Who has done that for you? Sharon has for me.

I pray that you had an outstanding worship time yesterday. Oh, I pray that you have a house of worship that you attend........it is all part of God's plan for us to be together in Christ!

There is nothing like having a Church family!

I hear from many.....I tired that once and they chased me away.......or something like I did, but it got to be to clickish......etc.etc.....

I will help you find a Church home.........email me.......

We have so many outstanding Church's in the area! PRAISE GOD!

Yesterday I preached on God's Favor and being a Bondservant for Christ.....

For many months now I have had people come up to me and say, "God's Favor is with you." or "The Favor of God covers you."

When I would hear that I would be a bit embarrassed......also thinking, boy I sure do not want to do anything to mess this up!.......I just want to do what the Holy Spirit is moving me to do........

My Pastor friends, my mentors..... Keep me on my toes..........who does that for you?

So Sharon and I dug into God's favor and being a Bondservant........

When I would hear God's Favor I would also think of people who go nuts and think God's favor mean's material things........

This should not be looked upon as some sort of secret formula for getting everything we want. For purposes of His own, God sometimes takes those He loves through special trials. Job is the primary example but similar instances happen in the lives of many, like you and me. However as we have been saying for the longest time here at the CUP.the closer we walk with the Lord, we will come to dwell in His favor and His favor for life.

I have included plenty of Scripture here for you to study.......Sharon and I pray that you will take the time to read all of it.

Sharon and I are here for you.........Let us all be Bondservants for Christ........
Bond Servants

A Bondservant of Jesus by Oswald Chambers I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me . . . —Galatians 2:20

Is Christ living in you?

25% of the time?

Do you take him to work with you?

These words mean the breaking and collapse of my independence brought about by my own hands, and the surrendering of my life to the supremacy of the Lord Jesus. No one can do this for me, I must do it myself. God may bring me up to this point three hundred and sixty-five times a year, but He cannot push me through it. It means breaking the hard outer layer of my individual independence from God, and the liberating of myself and my nature into oneness with Him; not following my own ideas, but choosing absolute loyalty to Jesus. Once I am at that point, there is no possibility of misunderstanding. Very few of us know anything about loyalty to Christ or understand what He meant when He said, ". . . for My sake" ( Matthew 5:11 ). That is what makes a strong saint.

More on this at: http://www.bondservants.com/

What does having the favor of God mean?

To favor means to give special regard to; to treat with goodwill; to show exceptional kindness to someone. Sometimes, it means to show extra kindness in comparison to the treatment of others.

However, favor is not always used in a comparative way toward others. It sometimes simply means that the one favored is shown kindness and treated with a generosity and goodwill far beyond what would normally be expected. This is generally the favor that we receive from the Lord. We are treated much better than we could expect. Of course, every believer is favored to some degree. Therefore, we must understand God's favor in degrees. The more we please God, the more we will be favored by Him. Also, it is important not to think of this favor in material or worldly terms. God's favor most likely will be given in spiritual blessings more than in material blessings. Here are some of the ways by which we obtain the favor of the Lord:

By praying unto the Lord (Job 33:26).
By keeping the commandments of the Lord (Proverbs 3:1-4).
By seeking and finding God's wisdom (Proverbs 8:35).
By diligently seeking good (Proverbs 11:27; 12:2).
By living righteously (Proverbs 14:9).
There are many benefits of being in the favor of the Lord. Here are some of them:

Our petitions are more likely to be granted (Esther 7:3).
God will compass us with a shield (Psalm 5:12).
We will receive life (Psalm 30:5).
Our enemies will not triumph over us (Psalm 41:11).
God will show mercy (Psalm 119:58).
We can grow in favor both with God and with man-as did the child Samuel (1 Samuel 2:26) and the child Jesus (Luke 2:52). The phrase, to find favor in the eyes of, or, in the sight of, came from the Old Testament. Every saint of God should desire and seek to have favor in the eyes of the Lord. We grow in that favor as we faithfully live for the Lord.

However, this should not be looked upon as some sort of secret formula for getting everything we want. For purposes of His own, God sometimes takes those He loves through special trials. Job is the primary example but similar instances happen in the lives of many. However, if we continually draw closer to the Lord, we will come to dwell in His favor and in His favor is life . Psalm 30:5

Let us pray.........

Lord, thank you for brining us together for this day to serve You. Let us seek Your will today and all days. We continue to pray for little Brooke and her family, we pray for wisdom for the Doctor's and nurses who are treating her. We pray for safety for Pastor Leonard. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

URGENT PRAYER KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM family,

Weekend CUP Special News/KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ...........Gal 1:3

I just wanted to send you this CUP as the Lord put it on my heart........

I also need to say to those of you like Trudy........wanting to know where I preach........The Church of God in Los Lunas just a short drive down 1-25

I will be preaching on God's favor and being a bondservant for Jesus at 11am tomorrow. I hope to see you there.

Trudy said, that Los Lunas is so far........ and that is a comment I get often .....Well, Sharon and I and Pastor Jim and Pastor Mark are constantly praying about starting a Church in Albuquerque. Would you then come? I really am a non-denominational guy.........Just like KKIM.....we invite all.........to come

Sharon and I are just trying to be bondservants for Jesus Christ........we are praying and seeking the Lord's Will everyday for our lives.

We had never thought that the Lord would have us doing what we are doing now!!! PRAISE GOD!!!

We have turned our lives over to HIM.........

As you know my favorite verse is.........

My life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus Acts 20:24

I know one thing.... I am to be the Shepherd of KKIM, as long as the Lord tells me so.......

keep us in your prayers and give us your thoughts on starting a Church here in the Duke City?

Got this email from Eric and Chris after yesterdays event in Santa Fe..........

Shalom Dewey,

Sorry to report that Evangelical support for Sanctity of Life Day in Santa Fe today very low.

Pastor Bill Redmond and Bill Sharer did super duper jobs speaking. Pastor Bill’s talk was passionate, based on the Constitution – quite superb!

Our Catholic brothers and sisters still lead the way against abortion.

Love ya,

Eric and Chris

Yes Eric and Chris, Our Catholic brothers and Sister's also are fighting for Godly marriage here in New Mexico. The Catholic Bishop's play such an important role in preventing same sex marriage. They have stood strong!! They speak out!

Let us all SPEAK UP FOR JESUS!!!

let us all remember that God used Moses and Paul to remind us HE transforms "the least of us" to be light in darkness. AMEN!!!

Last night we got a call on NM News and Views from Mark Wallace who is in Albuquerque City Government......he called in on a contest and then gave his thoughts on Health Care and our Economy......Wise man.....he said we should form a group of Americans to study our health care and economy.......

and then this was sent to me........heads up.......

I want to share this very interesting write up with you........We need information...we will perish without knowledge........
7 Things About The Economy Everyone Should Be Worried About
First Posted: 01-23-10 11:47 AM

An extraordinary series of articles recently appeared on the Nieman Watchdog Web site, anchored by investigative reporter John Hanrahan and mostly based on interviews with some of the nation's most perceptive, prescient and prophetic economists. The series laid out a broad landscape of economic issues that have been largely overlooked during the reporting of the nation's economic collapse -- to our great peril.
Hanrahan's articles explore key elements of the story that reporters should have been -- and should still be -- writing about. Among them: The endemic fraud at the heart of the collapse, the resultant need for a comprehensive dissection of some key financial institutions, how the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have weakened the economy, the dramatic effects of the crash on domestic poverty and world poverty, and underlying it all, the critically important role of government spending in a recovery, be it through a second stimulus or expanded entitlements or jobs programs, all of which requires that deficits be seen, for the short run at least, as the solution, not the problem.
As a coda to Hanrahan's series, here is a list of seven things all of us should be more alarmed by than we currently are, going forward.
A common theme underlying them all is that while our leaders -- and the voices of conventional wisdom -- treat our current recession as cyclical in nature, and are essentially mostly just waiting around for growth to pick up again, there is plenty of reason to believe that this crisis was instead an expression of structural problems. And if that is so, and we don't take the proper action, then the wait could be a long one.
No. 1: The middle class may never be the same again
The full effects of the crash of 2007-2008 on the lives of regular Americans has yet to be fully appreciated. For most members of the middle class, their sense of financial well-being was largely based on the size of their 401(k)s and their equity as homeowners. After the collapse of stock prices and with the steep drop in home prices, many may never feel the same way again, or spend their money as confidently.
While 401(k)s have somewhat bounced back, about one in four homeowners now actually have negative equity -- are "underwater". A recent study by Barry P. Bosworth and Rosanna Smart for Brookings finds that American households lost $13 trillion in wealth between mid-2007 and March 2009, or about 15 percent in all. That decline badly hit baby boomers just as they're headed into retirement. And middle-income families whose head is age 50 or younger actually have smaller net incomes today than in 1983.
Meanwhile, many American families spent much of the last decade (or two) living beyond their means, piling up debt on their credit cards, or "bubble borrowing." Two University of Chicago researchers have found that the housing bubble hugely increased household consumption as homeowners borrowed on average $0.25 to $0.30 for every $1 increase on their home equity. Now that housing prices have crashed and credit is tight, the inevitable result, Atif Mian and Amir Sufi write somewhat euphemistically, is a "painful process of household de-leveraging."
Story continues below
Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren, an emerging hero among progressives in her role as chair of the congressional bailout oversight panel, sees the latest series of blows as the unfortunate culmination of a crisis that started taking form a generation ago. For long stretches of time, the growth in the nation's GDP has gone almost entirely to the top 1% or less of the population. That has resulted in an dramatic shift in wealth away from the middle class, made the economy more vulnerable to disaster and made the toll of such a disaster more catastrophic to all but the wealthiest Americans. Warren writes:
America today has plenty of rich and super-rich. But it has far more families who did all the right things, but who still have no real security. Going to college and finding a good job no longer guarantee economic safety. Paying for a child's education and setting aside enough for a decent retirement have become distant dreams. Tens of millions of once-secure middle class families now live paycheck to paycheck, watching as their debts pile up and worrying about whether a pink slip or a bad diagnosis will send them hurtling over an economic cliff.
She concludes: "America without a strong middle class? Unthinkable, but the once-solid foundation is shaking."
No. 2: The recovery could take a really long time
Even assuming that we are at the beginning of an enduring recovery, there are many signs that it will be a slow one, and that it could be as long as a decade until most American families return to the standard of living they enjoyed before the crash.
Most notably, unemployment is widely expected to be astronomically high for at least another year or two -- remaining around 10 percent through 2010.
And the recovery, such as it is, has been largely fueled by government money -- not just the stimulus, but also the bailouts, targeted programs such as the homebuyers tax credit and "cash for clunkers," and emergency spending on such things as extended unemployment insurance. What happens, however, when those stop? And none are designed to go on forever.
Washington Post financial columnist Steven Pearlstein recently put it this way:

My best guess is that the current upswings in economic output, confidence and financial asset prices are largely a reflection of the extraordinary fiscal and monetary juice provided by Treasury and the Federal Reserve, along with the natural rebound that occurs after a collapse in consumer and business spending like that which occurred in the first half of 2009. The surprising strength of the bounce-back testifies to the wisdom of the underlying strengths of the U.S. economy and the success of the policies, but is likely to peter out as the stimulus begins to wear off and the inventory correction is completed.
No. 3: The recovery could only be temporary
In an interview with Fox News back in November, Obama himself raised the possibility that the economy could once again head into a tailspin:
I think it is important though to recognize that if we keep on adding to the debt, even in the midst of this recovery, that at some point, people could lose confidence in the US economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession.
This is the classic Wall-Street influenced worst-case scenario -- with government spending as the villain and interest rate increases as the ultimate horror, leading to doom.
But Obama may be worrying about the wrong side of the Wall Street/Main Street axis. The more likely reason the economy could tank again is because of insufficient demand.
For the past decade or so, the growth of the U.S. economy was primarily fueled by the credit and housing bubbles -- which now turn out to have been illusory. So what will spur growth this time? Especially with so many Americans out of work? Where's the demand going to come from?
Citing, among other things, the likelihood that the U.S. savings rate could go markedly higher in the coming years, Nobel laureate economist Joseph Stiglitz warns that "we are not seeing a recovery of sustained consumption,"and says there is a "significant chance" of a double-dip recesssion for that reason.
One plausible growth model involves extensive government investment in infrastructure, public works and public goods; expansion of social programs; and a return to pre-Reagan era-style growth based on rising middle-class incomes, where wages grow with productivity.
Obama, however, captured as he is by the Wall Streeters and deficit hawks on his economics team, doesn't seem inclined in that direction -- nor, of course, does our utterly dysfunctional Congress. Obama and his advisers don't seem to feel the need for a new approach to growth, or to explain where they think it will come from. Their posture is simply to hang tough until it returns.
But the current economic situation is more fragile that some would have it. One particular danger is that because of bogus accounting rules, banks aren't properly recognizing their losses -- and are in fact largely insolvent.
Clinton-era Labor Secretary Robert Reich recently speculated about what lies ahead for the economy. He wrote he see only a 10 percent chance of a double dip recession (vs. a 30 percent chance of a strong or solid recovery; a 40 percent chance of a jobless recovery; and a 20 percent chance of a stalled recovery). But his description of that particular scenario was particularly vivid:

The commercial real estate market craters, carrying with it hundreds of regional banks and exposing how much junk is still on the books of major Wall Street banks. This triggers a long-awaited "correction" in the Dow and pushes the nation into another recession. Job losses rise.
No. 4: Then what? This time, we don't have the tools to get out of a recession
The recognized way of dealing with a recession is to lower interest rates in order to stimulate the economy. But the Federal Reserve can't lower the rate to below zero, so that's out.
The government can pour vast amounts of money into the economy, either through a stimulus or a massive bailout -- or, as the case may be, both.
But next time around, that money might not be there. Not only could the political will be lacking, but there is an upper limit to just how much money the country can borrow and spend at one time without it doing more harm than good.
No. 5: The ‘very serious' people in Washington are still obsessed about the deficit
In Washington salons and newsrooms, you are not considered a serious person unless you are very, very worried about the deficit. The principle that reducing the deficit is of the greatest urgency (and must come at the cost of entitlements) is for some reason firmly lodged in the halls of power in Washington. An example of just how uncontroversial deficit hawkery is among Washington's elite was provided by The Washington Post earlier this month when it apparently didn't think twice about turning over its news columns to an organization funded by Peter G. Peterson, the billionaire investment banker on a crusade to reduce the deficit by looting Social Security.
But deficit hawkery right now is not just ludicrous, it's dangerous. As New York Times columnist Paul Krugman noted recently, "the calls we're already hearing for an end to stimulus, for reversing the steps the government and the Federal Reserve took to prop up the economy, will grow even louder." He adds:

But if those calls are heeded, we'll be repeating the great mistake of 1937, when the Fed and the Roosevelt administration decided that the Great Depression was over, that it was time for the economy to throw away its crutches. Spending was cut back, monetary policy was tightened -- and the economy promptly plunged back into the depths.
No. 6: Whatever is making the stock market go up could go away
The giddiness over the recovering stock market makes it easy to overlook some key questions about its rise. But what exactly has sent the Dow up almost 70 percent since March? Could it be another bubble? And could it burst?
Was it a function of the extraordinary liquidity pumped into the system, first through the bailouts and now through nearly zero-interest loans to the banks? Was it foreign investors attracted by weak dollar and low interest rates? Where's all the money coming from?
No one seems to know. (Does anyone really care?) But whatever it was could presumably come to an end, devestating the market and the economy.
No. 7: The hugely irresponsible financial sector remains unchastened
Back in March, Obama described modern Wall Street as a "house of cards" and a "Ponzi scheme" in which "a relatively few do spectacularly well while the middle class loses ground."
In his major speech on the economy in April, the president proclaimed that "we cannot go back to the bubble-and-bust economy that led us to this point." He continued:
It is simply not sustainable to have a 21st-century financial system that is governed by 20th-century rules and regulations that allowed the recklessness of a few to threaten the entire economy. It is not sustainable to have an economy where in one year, 40 percent of our corporate profits came from a financial sector that was based on inflated home prices, maxed-out credit cards, over-leveraged banks and overvalued assets. It's not sustainable to have an economy where the incomes of the top 1 percent has skyrocketed while the typical working household has seen their incomes decline by nearly $2,000. That's just not a sustainable model for long-term prosperity.
He was right.
He even used powerful biblical imagery from Jesus's Sermon on the Mount to liken the boom-and-bust economy he inherited to a house built on sand and the future U.S. economy he is working toward to one built on a rock, that could weather a storm.
But the big banks, with their enormous political clout, appear to be managing to duck the re-regulation that seemed inevitable a year ago -- and they are now in fact more powerful than ever. The ultimate litmus test is that the banks that are "too big to fail," rather than being broken up, are now making huge profits -- and paying astronomical bonuses -- based on the implicit guarantee that the government will pay their debts if they ever face bankruptcy. Indeed, that government backstop gives them every reason to place riskier bets than ever. Even Obama's latest, much more assertive and populist proposal to limit bank activities does not break up those banks -- and faces an uncertain future in our nearly paralyzed legislative branch.
Economist Simon Johnson (the subject of one of Hanrahan's articles) recently said on CNBC:
The conventional wisdom is you can't have back-to-back major financial crises. I think we're going to push that, we're going to have a look and see whether that's true. And the next 12 months could really be exciting. People could be very positive, but we are setting ourselves up for an enormous catastrophe.
Indeed. By Obama's biblical analogy, our economy is still very much built on sand --and the next big storm might not be very far away at all.

Dear Dewey,

Thank you for your faithfulness in spreading encouraging words. Love
to you and Sharon and family, What a blessing the Daily Cup is....
Cherie Snow

Dear Dewey,
To answer that question...Walking hand in hand with Jesus! HE is teaching me wisdom and leading me to knowledge! HE is giving me a bold confidence in coming to God, because HE is remaining so close to me, cuz I am striving to remain in HIM so strong! My thoughts, mind, will and emotions are lining up closer and closer to God's will, so that my will is becoming molded closer and closer to God's will...and so as my will aligns with God's will, I have a stronger and stronger confidence in coming to HIM in a way that I have never experienced before!
I copied this clip from today's DDC as I share this...and to say that Rick Warren could have written that from my own experience...in other words...I agree and to say ...that is how I hear God speak to me too! Just wanted to say, well said and well put and well lived in my life too!
My hope is to share for others to be encouraged to seek God to find HIM in a closer and closer relationship that changes lives! And it is GOOD!
Love, Karen
Dearest Friend Dewey, and family,
On this 'Cup' there was a message on how God speaks to us. And it was placed on my heart to share. He has spoken to me in Dreams. Not many, but a couple of times where upon waking, I was crying and praising Him. One time shortly after I repented, and was seeking out the Truth everywhere I could find it." I had a dream," (sort of like this holiday of Martin Luther King, :) I was approaching a small village of Latino children playing outside their huts, and the closer I walked to them, the more hate I saw in their eyes. Then within range I saw they started picking up the, 'Cut out lids of coffee cans' and started slinging them at me like 'Frisbees' I felt the slight sting when they would hit me, but my focus was on one boy in perticular, we were eye to eye as he was throwing them at me. But I knew if I could only keep going towards them things would be fine. As soon as I was within arms distance his arms fell to his side and his head dropped to look towards the ground as in shame, I just reached out to him, and held him, as he began crying with sorrow for treating me so badly. We hugged and cryed together, and I felt him except the Lord as his Savior.. All I could do was Praise God for that Dream for many days, and still remember it as if it were yesterday. It was as real to me as if I were awake and experienced it.
I thank God for enlightning us with the 'Dreams only He could let us experience. Praise God this day!
In His Mercy, sam

Monday AM CUP KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

If I do not put to death the things in me which are not of God, they will put to death the things that are of God. Oswald Chambers

Pray on that for awhile.......chew on that............do not quickly dismiss the wise words of Chambers..........What is ungodly in your life? It may seem to you like a little thing.......but remember........termites are little things, that eat at the foundation!

Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of His great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. Isaiah 40:26

PICTURE THAT!!!!

We had a great turn out at Church yesterday....Pastor Mark Tross says his Church was full......hearing good reports on Church attendance to hear God's Word!

Also, worshiped at Pastor Don's church today. Really, really enjoyed it. Loved meeting him finally, and his lovely wife.

Shona

Shona is getting ready for her seminar to be held at Heights Christian in March, which I will be taking part in....details coming.

Do you have a Church family? If not We can help put you in contact, email me if you wish!

Happy Birthday to son Greg! The best Chef in the World!!!

We have this prayer request.......

Hello, Dewey,

Here's hoping you and your family are well and happy and your new year has kicked off on a very blessed note.

Dewey, I am writing to request prayers for the friends and family of young Sky Vassar, a student at Desert Ridge Mid School who passed away on Friday (I believe) of complications from appendicitis. At least that's what I've been able to gather. She must have been about 13.

Sadly, I do not know her family but I can only imagine the devastation they must be feeling. I have also been moved to tears by the outpouring of love and grief from Sky's classmates on Facebook! I wish I knew how to share that w/her family as these sweet kids have so honored this beautiful young girl.

Dewey, kindly pass along this prayer request that Sky's family might find peace and solace in the Lord, and in the knowledge that their beautiful child is safe and well and happy in our Lord's embrace.

In addition, I also add my voice to so many who call to the world to pray for our brothers and sisters suffering in Haiti. Merciful Father, please bring them peace and comfort, make way for those delivering help and food, and keep their land safe and stable in the palm of your hand.

As always, Dewey, thank you for your kindness and for dedicating your life to the Lord's work here on Earth. May the Lord continue to shine His light upon you as a beacon of peace and faith. Love and blessings to you and your family. Be well, my friend.

Yours in Christ,

Grace Cordova

Thank you Grace, we will be praying...........

Also I pray that you read yesterdays posting from John Robb of the International prayer Council on Haiti and Malaysia Please keep those countries in your prayers.

Also please pray for the Satanic attacks on our Children.......Today we have a report of a School Official at a Christian School in Santa Fe, NM, yes this is a problem even in the Church, having sexual relations with a student.

This is the Fourth reported case in a week here in New Mexico of a Teacher or School Official having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

I repeat this continues to be a problem even in the CHURCH!

We must not turn our Backs on God on this issue.

Little girl in Church yesterday put forth a prayer request......Let us not hate........and today we honor Martin Luther King Jr. who preached just that.

As Max Lucado says, "Olive Branches do more good than battle-axes ever will."

Sharon just called me with the report of a 4.1 earthquake on the New Mexico/Colorado border.......the earth is moaning and groaning.........

We have been talking about a Personal relationship with Jesus Christ for years now here on the CUP and KKIM.

How is your walk with Jesus coming?

Do you hear him?

When your walk is STRONG with the Lord you will hear him.........

Here is what Rick Warren says about that...........

"The way I explain it is, God has a will for our lives. I also believe there is a real Satan, and I believe he has a will for our lives. I believe I have my own will, and I'm always choosing. You know, I don't have to accept God's will. I'm making choices all the time. And when Satan gives you a bad idea, we call that temptation. And so, when I say God said something to me, that's inspiration. It's thought.
"Now, I don't know how a cell phone works, but if another person can talk to me through the air, God can certainly put a thought in my mind without him having to say it aloud. I have never heard God say something aloud, ever. Many times I have gotten an idea and I've thought, "I don't know where that came from." And I wasn't sure if it was me or God or something else. But I've been a friend with God now for forty years, and I talk to him all the time just like I'm talking to you. I would say that early in my Christian life I had a hard time distinguishing between my thoughts, God's thoughts, and thoughts that came to me from somewhere else------tv, something I read, a billboard advertisement, whatever. But now that I've been a believer for forty years, I've become more comfortable with it. The longer I walk with the Lord the more I just know His voice."

AMEN PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

I feel exactly the same..........AMEN!

Now if we would introduce more people to the Lord we would have a better world. Also if those who already walk with the Lord stay away from sin.......we would be such an AWESOME testimony to others! Everytime Satan knocks a Christian down it hurts the testimony to someone who doesn't know Christ. Be strong........Put on the Armor of God......

I pray today that we all grow in our relationship with the Lord........I pray that you will talk and listen to Him all of your days.

You will be THRILLED!!!!

In the name of Jesus.AMEN! AMEN!

Haiti/Malaysia/India CUP KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

We have this prayer letter from John Robb of Albuquerque who is with the International Prayer Council and at the present time is in Malaysia and also a report from Pastor Leonard Navarre of Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood, NM and host of Your Bible Boost on KKIM who is in India........we have the world covered here at the CUP/KKIM! PRAISE GOD!!!

Dear Friends,
Trust you are already in prayer about the awful earthquake and its destructive impact in Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. BBC News is reporting that at least 50,000 were killed and a couple hundred thousand injured during the quake. The toll may be much higher than that, and some are saying it could be worse than the 2004 tsunami that hit Indonesia and other areas.

Much of the local infrastructure is gone with the collapse of many government buildings. People are desperately looking for food and water, with chaos and anarchy taking over parts of the country as fighting over the few remaining resources takes place. Please pray for a rapid and well-organized relief response and for the government officials, local churches, UN and private humanitarian agencies as well as the US military who all are trying to provide assistance. Pray for the Lord’s comfort and presence, bringing peace, order and hope to these suffering and agony-struck men, women and children.

Malaysia, where I am traveling at the moment, has been hit with a rash of church fire bombings and attacks by religious extremists over the last couple of weeks. These extremists are unhappy that the court has decided in favor of the Christians using the word “Allah” for God, affirming what has been the custom for many centuries elsewhere in the world. Some here feel that such attacks are actually working in the favor of Christ’s people and cause in this majority Muslim nation since the government is now providing relief to the churches that have been attacked and is generally showing more support for religious freedom. Please pray that this will indeed turn out to be true and that the believers here will come together in greater unity and prayer for their nation and for the majority who still need to know His good news.

Finally, may I ask you to pray for the arrangement of the Intergenerational Prayer Summit scheduled to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, May 18-23, in connection with the Global Day of Prayer conference at the same time. Our intention in the International Prayer Council is that children, youth and adults co-plan and co-lead this event as equal partners. From Scripture, we know that God’s heart is not just for the nations but also for the generations. He is clearly wanting all generations, past, present and future to connect their hearts together with Him and one another in an unbroken, ongoing way for the blessing of our world. The prayer movement is pivotal to this happening. Our hope and prayer is that this Cape Town event and also the World Prayer Assembly being considered for 2012 will be used of the Lord to facilitate this heart connection and extend the prayer movement through the children and youth of today into future generations.
The particular theme of this IPC summit will be "Investing in Future Generations: Affirming What God is doing among Children and Youth in the Prayer Movement". It will also serve as the third Children in Prayer global consultation for those who have been involved with that network and those who would like to learn more about CiP. Please pray for those who should participate in May that they will be able to register and have the financial means and time availability to come and play their part in this summit.

If you are interested to participate personally in the summit or want to recommend others involved in prayer ministry or who work with youth and children , please contact our IPC office for more information at office@ipcprayer.org.

Warmest greetings from Malaysia,
John Robb
International Prayer Council

We also have a report from Pastor Leonard Navarre who is in New Delhi, India that 29 people give their lives to Christ in his first worship service! PRAISE GOD! We will continue to bring you updates as we get them from Pastor Leonard........Keep him in your prayers along with John Robb....and the Countries of Haiti, Malaysia, and India.

I leave you this day with this though from Oswald Chambers......I just have to mention that we have been talking about Ethics reform........and how it has to come from the heart and giving ones life to Jesus Christ.....Ethics reform is on the docket in Santa Fe as the Legislative session gets underway Tuesday........But read this from Chambers.......

If I do not put to death the things in me which are not of God, they will put to death the things that are of God.

In Jesus name AMEN!

God put us all here for this time.........

Are you listening to the Lord?

Becky Tirabassi writes in her book, "Let God Talk To You".......

In Andrew Murray's book the Inner Life, I learned a simple concept that revolutionized my approach to daily Bible reading. He writes, "Prayer and the Word are inseparably linked together. Power in the use of either depends upon the presence of the other......The Word gives me guidance for prayer, telling me what God will do for me. It gives me the power to pray, telling me how God would have me come......And it gives me the answer to prayer, as it teaches what God will do for me...........Prayer seeks God; the Word reveals God. In prayer we rise to heaven to dwell with God; in the Word God comes to dwell with us."

WOW!! WOW!!! WOW!!!!! How powerful is that!

In prayer we rise to heaven to dwell with God.........in the Word God comes to dwell with us!!!!! The words of Andrew Murray.

You gotta read Tirabassi's book!!!!

Nora said that it is the fault of the people of New Mexico for letting this Corruption in State Government continue.....would you please pray with me...before we do that let me share this Tweet on got from Max Lucado.......

See your enemies, not as God’s failures, but as God’s projects

Let us pray for Governor Richardson and President Obama that they get close to God.....Let us pray......

Just fyi.Nora and I talked about the impending announcement that Pete Domenici Jr. will be running for Governor of New Mexico. We talked about the new twist that put's on the Republican race. I also talked with State Rep Janice E Arnold Jones last night. She was in Northern New Mexico as her campaign for Governor continues.

I know very little about Pete Jr........except that he is an attorney.......a nice man.........and he has no state government experience.......some would say that is a PLUS! and oh yes......I think his father served New Mexico in some little office. LOL!!!

Nora talked about proposed Ethics Reform.........she said AMEN.when I said I shake my head every time I hear about ETHICS REFORM it will not happen unless HEARTS are changed and people give their lives to Jesus Christ. That is the ETHICS REFORM that is needed not only in Government but WORLDWIDE .

All of my life I have wanted to be successful. The idea of success has driven me most of my days and the fear of not being successful has kept me on course as well. As I reflect on this, I find it interesting that not much has changed for me personally. I still desire success, but my definition of “success” has shifted drastically. Growing up in the thriving and prosperous suburb of Plano the mantra and allure of success was all around me.
Success equated to the various status symbols of the “American Dream”: expensive cars, expansive homes, exotic vacations and exclusive lives. The greater cultural system reinforced what most families modeled, and we were all competing for ways to get a slice of pie. The proverbial “Jones’” kept everyone running at breakneck speed and leaving carnage in our wake; people became a means to an end as “success” was the idol we chased. This is not isolated to Plano or the Dallas metroplex per se; rather, this ethos permeates the ghetto as much as Rodeo Drive. It is American to the core.
A biblically informed definition of success has almost nothing to do with the acquisition of material things or the achievement of personal comfort. Success for the believer is defined in relationship to Jesus Christ and His mission. Christ came to seek and save that which was lost; He calls a people unto Himself. We were once far off and have now been brought near through the blood of Christ. He creates a new humanity with transformed perspectives and ambitions.
The death and resurrection of Christ and the overall mission of God in the world now defines what success looks like for the believer and the Church. Simplistically, a believer’s desire for success should be in accordance with Romans 12:1-2. Do I look like the Savior? Have I been transformed by His grace to love radically, give generously, suffer willingly, walk humbly and engage missionally? Is the fruit of God’s Spirit evident in my heart: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22).
The hope in my life is that I would be successful, but success has been redefined as I have been transformed. Now, a prosperous life means an endowment of Christ-saturated thoughts, relationships and actions; not a certain tax bracket or health. Conformity to the image of Christ compels me rather than the creaturely comforts of a fading glory (2 Corinthians 5:14). The success I am now pursuing is not elusive; rather, it is eternally mine because it has been purchased by the sufficient blood of Christ and secured by the seal of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:7,14). The “American Dream” is a cheap substitute compared to the rich treasure of knowing Christ (Philippians 3:7-10). The gospel reality awakens us to pleasures evermore and causes us to abandon our prior delusions of grandeur to readily accept the inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled and unfading, kept in heaven for those who believe. (1 Peter 1:3-5).
Can I really be called a “success” if I waste my life chasing the wind? Maybe, but then I would also have to be called a “fool” as well.

WOW! Great stuff!!! We are here to serve...not to be served........

Sharon and I pray that we all be in prayer and dwell in heaven and be in God's Word so God comes to dwell in us. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!!!!!!

ps.We are still getting sympathy cards on the passing of Sharon's Dad Rodger......thanks so much for your love and support! It is very special when people still send sympathy cards! They mean a lot!

In the Love of Christ, Dewey Sharon and family

WEEKEND CUP WITH DEWEY KKIM/DDC

Dear KKIM Family,

I am so full of the Holy Spirit....I may BUST!!!!!! LOL!!!!!

Staying near Jesus is the answer------Bless and worship Him as you pray.

He'll provide all your daily needs

Your CUP will run over each day. Charles Martin WWII Vet/Fmr Albuquerque Police Officer

Let us now hear from Pastor Don Kimbro host of Nuggets of Truth Weekday mornings at 7:30 on KKIM...........

Dear Church family,
You have all seen the devastation in Haiti. We can do much in their behalf through prayer and giving. Please stop what you are doing as you read this and say a pray for that nation. It is a dark country and yet the Lord loves everyone of those people, attested to by this passage:

"For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight." - Psm. 72:12-14

If the Lord prompts you to give financially, there are many reputable charities that will get the funds to where it can make a difference. God bless you all and thank you.

Pastor Don

Let us now hear from Karen Rowe of Hope In Today 3:45pm Thursdays on KKIM.................

Dear Dewey, just to share a revised version of this message. Glad you made it back and enjoyed your messages!
So just to share something that God has led me to writing about. I posted this to www.hopeintoday.webs.com and if you feel led to share on DDC feel free! God bless! Karen

What is God’s purpose for me? Looking with Proverbs 8 in my heart:

God’s will for us is to become more like Christ!!!
We need to read and hear God’s Word to know what HE is like to know what we CAN become!

...We need to read the Bible until we hear God's still voice...

Proverbs 8 Wisdom's call! My focus here is on whom wisdom IS ... and how vital it is to apply God's Wisdom to our life...in order to live a good life! Do you feel hindered in your life? There is good news!!!

Christ lives in us through the Holy Spirit! Christ is Wisdom! Praise God that we have God's knowledge available to us...our instruction book on LIFE! But we have a choice to listen...to learn...to walk in God's Wisdom...to walk in Christ! This offer is from God and is offered to anyone who will receive! Praise God that HE loves us this much!!!

God teaches us about LIVING in LOVE...

Living in LOVE IS living In JESUS...in the likeness of Jesus...as God teaches...as we are covered in God's mercy and forgiveness through Jesus!

Our walk with God is an ongoing/continual "on the job training" in progress, THUS< it is VITAL that we read the Bible to understand who God IS and about HIS character, but faith without works is dead...It is vital that we do OUR part and apply God's wisdom to our life!

GOD IS GOOD! GOD EXPECTS WHAT WORKS ... LIVING IN WISDOM WORKS!!!

Wisdom is always with good purpose!

To choose to walk a different way that is contrary to God's Wisdom is quitting on God's Word...

Choosing to go against The Word in the Bible is choosing to go our own way and choosing not to go God's way...

Choosing not to learn God's message that is found in the Bible is cheating my very own self! I have learned the value of applying God's good Word to my life and with that wisdom comes true peace, love and joy with powerful protection in my life! God rules my life much better than I would dare to! And with my wise choice to listen to God and then also to trust and obey comes a closeness to God, so I enjoy the freedom of just knowing God is going before me with HIS righteousness and also backing me up as my rear guard!

In other words, living in God's Word is walking with Jesus!

Don't give up on living according to God's rules...If you quit God's way, you walk away from God by choice!

Don't give up on learning God's good way...Have you every thought something was okay and then God showed you that it was not right? I have!!! I've learned that God is patient with us, but HE won't give up on us and leave us in the dark like that! Some may think that it is better not to know, but I disagree, because by growing in wisdom, we grow closer to God!

When we are still and wait on God; when we are still and obedient to God, then we win! God always has good purpose!

Some may think that God causes things bad things to happen, but I encourage you to get to know who God really IS and what HIS character is really like for yourself before you pass judgment on God!

God has purpose to all things...we have choices to make and with every choice there are rewards or consequences. Now, also, sometimes we have done ...no bad thing,.. but just so God could dramically show that the ONE who calls us is superior...to get the attention of many!

God calls us to have a good life with good purpose...and God calls ALL, not just one person! God loves us ALL!

What do we get if we quit God's way...do we dare quit on God?

God's way WORKS by HIS POWER!!!

Wisdom's Call

Proverbs 8

8:1”Does not wisdom call out? (God calls ALL (me and every "you" reading this) ...

8:6”Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. 7 "My mouth speaks what is true,

8:10"Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,

8:12”I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I posses knowledge and discretion.

(Our wisdom is Christ in us! (See Proverbs8:12 "I, wisdom...")

8:14 "I have understanding and power...

8:17 "I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

8:18 "With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity."

8:22 "The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;

8:23 "I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.

Proverbs 9

9:10 "the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding, For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life."

12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you

EVERY Word of God is worthy of living...

Why do we tend to occasionally make excuses to do as we please at times...when we are tired, discouraged...?

Does an excuse make it okay? Does our excuse change the Word of God?

I am learning more and more that it is in the tough times that we need to shine for God and stand true to HIS word!

God loves us and teaches us, but...

HE won't bow down to us and our level and hang out there...We need to rise up to God to live in HIS level in Jesus to reach HIS level of good graces! YES, God does come to us at our level...HIS NAME IS JESUS, but it is our choice to grab HIS hand and change and to grow to be more in the LIKENESS OF JESUS!

The Bible quietly reveals iniquities that hinder us and Christ in us inspires us to change...Living in The Holy Spirit tunes our ear to obey... and LOVE never fails!

It's all about living with Christ in us! We learn to walk in LOVE and WISDOM and we are learning to walk in Jesus...and Love never fails!

I encourage everyone to read the Bible daily! Maybe God will lead some to Proverbs, but where ever God leads us in the Bible, we are with God in HIS WORD!

If you don't have access to a Bible, ask someone today!
