New Mexico update: We received confirmation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Saturday afternoon of New Mexico ’s first confirmed case in an 18-year-old male from Valencia County. The CDC also reported that the 1-year-old male from Santa Fe County did not have H1N1 flu.



National information about H1N1: Disease caused by the H1N1 flu virus in the United States appears to be mild so far. There are 226 confirmed cases in 30 states in the U.S. , one person has died: a toddler from Mexico visiting Texas .



Recommendations: The best thing you can do is wash your hands frequently, cover your cough with a tissue or your arm and stay home when you are sick. If sick with fever and cough or sore throat, call doctor for advice.
